5.0 out of 5 stars Great Edition to the PSPgo
I must first disclose that I love docks. I bought a 3rd party one for my PSP-1000 and I have one for my Cybershot and for my iPhone etc. It just makes it nice to set your system on something, not just a cable to dingle around.

The PSP GO cradle is great if you have all the nessisary cables to use with it. Luckily I do. I must first disclose that I love docks. I bought a 3rd party one for my PSP-1000 and I have one for my Cybershot and for my iPhone etc. It just makes it nice to set your system on something, not just a cable to dingle around.

First thing to then keep in mind is that this is just the dock. No cables come with it. You have to use the ones with your system.

So what can this puppy do? Simple thing is to just have an area to charge your PSPgo on. Set it down and walla, it charges. But, if you want a little more, you can then directly hookup the PSP USB cable to it as well so when you set it down, not only does it charge but can auto sync with the Sony Media Manager software. So now on the dock, I can charge and sync new content over to my system. Also, if you purchase the proper cable, the dock acts as a video out so you can then set your system up on the dock and plug it to your receiver or TV.

Sleek and functional is all I have to say.

Only con I would have to say is that it uses up the USB and power cable that you own so when you wanna go, you either have to take your cables apart or purchase a second pair which is what I did.

It's important to make one thing very clear here. The contents of the box are as follows: a PSPgo Cradle. That's it. Nothing else. No cables, no power adapter, nothing. Just the cradle. If you just want an easy way to charge your PSP, this will work just fine.

On the other hand, if you're wanting to use this as a way to play your PSP at home on your TV, you need to be aware of a few things:

1. You will need a video-out cable to connect the cradle to your TV. I use the PSPgo Component AV Cable and it works great.
2. If you only have the charging cable that came with your PSPGo, you CAN NOT charge your PSPGo while you have it connected to your TV. There is only a single port on the back for the new PSPGo-style plug, so you can plug in your AV cables OR your power cable, but not both.
3. If you want to charge the system while you're playing, you'll need to have a 5V power adapter for the classic PSP. This can plug into the round port on the cradle while you have the AV cables plugged into the new-style port. The power adapter you'll want is something like Sony PSP Power Outlet AC Adapter Charger.

Once you have all 3 pieces, the power adapter, the AV cable, and the cradle, you'll be able to sit back and enjoy having another console in your living room.

4.0 out of 5 stars There's only one real reason to own this, October 18, 2009

For $30, the PSP Go cradle accomplishes much of the same work done by simply using the USB/AC cable provided with the system: It syncs and charges your PSP system. It's sturdy, functional, and pretty much a no-frills piece of equipment.

So why buy it?

Well, from what I can tell, there's really only one reason, and it's the reason I purchased it: It charges and holds up your system while you use a PS3 controller to play the Go. In other words, you can now use the PSP Go with its battery-draining Bluetooth functionality AND fully see the system while the system is in the closed position... all while still using a PS3 wireless controller to watch movies, listen to music, and play all your PSP software.

At $30, it's a bit overpriced, and I wish there was a way to listen to headphones while using it, but it definitely accomplishes what it sets out to do, providing a convenient way to charge, sync, and play PSP games using the PS3 controller.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Charging Cradle with options., November 13, 2009

I bought this so I could have a dock for my sony xbr4 40inch LCD t.v..

Cons: 1. It's just a Cradle....Thats it. No charging Cord. No Video Cable

Pros: 1. Any old PSP cord you have from your old PSP will work....it's a 5v and so is the old psp. I used one of my old travel charging chords....works great.
2. You do need to buy a chord but then you can choose RCA or Component. RCA is more versatile when Traveling but Component looks fantastic.
3. I pair my PS3 Controller with the PSP Go, set it on the dock, sit back, and let the dock and the PSP do all the work while I'm 6 feet away playing God of War on my T.V.

This thing probably should have came with a charging cable. But The durability of the product doesn't make me question the price too much. I definitely recommend.

I brought it upon myself because I knew what I was getting with this when I bought it but the prospect of having a neat place to hold my PSP Go was awesome. That being said, here are the pros/cons:

Pros:
+ Looks beautiful on my desk
+ More convenient for me to connect to my laptop since I can just leave the cable in the dock
+ The only way to play the PSP Go on a TV and charge it at the same time

Cons:
- No AC adapter (gotta buy it yourself, assumes you are going to use your original cable, which doesn't really make sense because then why would you buy the dock?)
- No audio out (gotta use a TV-out, then convert back to speaker cable. Audio quality loss + pain in the ass)
- No remote control (would have been worthless without an audio out anyways. What I would have wanted was to hook up my speakers to this thing and keep a remote control by my bed when I read so I can use the low power PSP Go to play music instead of my energy-sucking laptop, but that's a no go (pun intended))
- Not as neat a dock design as I would like (the dock just has the port sticking out and a plastic thing that goes in your headphone jack. After using it for a while, I discovered that the port is scratching the plastic around my slot because I don't slide it on there with 100% accuracy. I wouldn't have minded if the dock was bigger such that the plastic would fit around the PSP and guide the port to the slot instead of me now having to carefully line it up each time)

The lack of audio out and remote control was the biggest let down for me. I have a third party Bluetooth remote but using that forces the audio to go out of the remote's jack, which is not what I want at all. If it's any consolation, the PSP clock looks particularly beautiful docked on my desk.

Terrific little accessory from Sony here. The PSPgo Cradle allows me to sit comfortably on my couch while enjoying long gaming sessions. The ability to play PSP games with a PS3 controller via Bluetooth is really nice. The only knock on this product is the necessity to purchase an ac adaptor (PSP 1000-3000 5v) seperately if you want to play games and charge your PSPgo at the same time.

Highly recommended for the PSP2 and Monster Hunter players out there.

The cradle allows you to charge your PSP while playing games on your TV, and for that reason alone, I feel it is worth it.

The PSPgo has a universal port that allows only one cable to be needed for power and USB connecting. You can either use the cable that shipped with the system and connect it to the AC Adapter for power while you play, or you can use it to connect the PSPgo to a computer and transfer files and/or charge while the PSPgo is in USB Mode.

The fact that it can only charge via a USB cable while in USB mode (even though it is connected via the same port it normally receives power to) is frustrating, but it is understandable from a technical standpoint (pins on the port normally allocated for power and the voltage coming from whatever it's connected to, switching those pins to receive slight power while in USB Mode etc). That is why charging via USB Mode takes about twice as long as with an AC Adapter.

I personally dislike switching around wires, and I am a huge fan of docks because it allows a spot for the owner of a device to just sit their devices into and forget about it. Someone who uses AC Adapters may think this is trivial, but I can assure most of you reading this, if you can afford to get a dock, you will not regret it.

The best part about this dock is the 5V adapter for DC Power (the same plug the older PSP models use). The PSPgo can in fact do video out for gaming and media to a TV via component cables. Also, the PSPgo can be synced and controlled with a PS3 controller via Bluetooth (a PS3 and USB cables for the PSPgo and PS3 Controller are needed, in addition to at least 2 empty USB ports on the PS3). The PSPgo has a smaller screen than previous PSPs, and I am not a huge fan of the control-setup. This functionality is awesome, and made for a very comfortable gaming experience. Connecting it to the TV is as easy as plugging in the cable and holding down the Display button at the top of the system (if that doesn't work, just navigate over to Display Settings on the XMB).

The only problem with that is because of the nature of the Universal Port, while gaming without the dock, your battery will be drained. I feel that this aspect highly limits the functionality of this system for that purpose.

One of my complains is that my PSP is a bit wobbly in the dock, but I'm not doing a rain dance around my desk, nor do I live in an area prone to earthquakes, so it's just fine. I mainly use the dock for my PC (totally not the reason I got it for!), but I would definitely spend another $20 to keep one by my TV full-time.

It's cheaper on Amazon than it is at Gamestop.

This small piece of hardware is awesome. Docks the PSP go in an upright position (great for charging, syncing, video-out, or charging while outputting video). It's rather heavy and definitely won't go tip over without a lot of persuasion, and has rubber feet to keep it from sliding away. It looks snazzy sitting on my desk.

My only beef with it is that in order to charge while outputting video (and you'll want to, especially if you decide to play with a PS3 controller), you have to buy the original PSP's charger. I hadn't foreseen that.
