Nice solid feel, with some drawbacks,
By
This review is from: PSPgo Traveler Case - Black (Accessory)
Honestly, I think that this case is GOOD OVERALL. It's not perfect, but it is good.
It has a very sturdy, solid feel to it. I am willing to carry my PSP around in a bag with this, whereas without I would only carry it in my pockets, so I know it's not shifting around. With that said, I still wouldn't pack it away in a bag that might get thrown around or roughed up--it's definitely not made of steel. Everyone seems to think that this case doesn't fit the Go. I personally like the way it fits for the most part because it's very SNUG. It fits tightly so that NOTHING SHIFTS AROUND when it's in the case. That is a feature that some people seem to think may damage the product, but in fact, it actually just makes it that much more secure. It was a tight squeeze but at no point did I feel like I would be damaging anything to apply slight pressure. I pulled the brackets outward slightly as I pushed the system downward into place, and it was quite painless. The case is so snug in fact that the sliding mechanism feels like it has some resistance. You may not like this, but in my opinion the inside of the case material is VERY soft, and is not likely to scratch the shiny plastic at all. The outer material has a nice leathery feel to it as well. The Go with the case on still fits in my pocket, so it's nice and thin, despite how solid it feels. And again, it does feel quite solid due to its snug fit. (like a glove) When using this case, most buttons around the exterior rim of the Go are accessible--L/R, Wifi, Power/Hold, as well as the multipurpose port and the headphone jack. The volume/brightness/mute buttons will be inaccessible when closed. (and effectively inaccessible when the case is open and the screen is slid upward exposing the controls, as your fingers may not fit to reach them) I don't feel comfortable pressing the volume/brightness/mute buttons with the case and screen both in the "open" position, as I feel like my fingers push the screen forward just slightly--something I'm not willing to do. Thankfully I don't need to use volume controls very much, but if you're using it for music and have a very wide dynamic range in your music, it might be an issue. Opening the case, you can opt to either let the front flap dangle around the back of the unit, or use the velcro clasp to secure it to the reverse side of the case. This is how the unit is designed to stand (with the velcro flipped around on the back side of the case) but I find that it stands a bit too vertically for my liking, so a cool potential feature doesn't really play out too well in that situation. In my experience the case gets in the way if you're trying to hand-hold it while the flap is secured to the rear via the velcro. The only other issues I have with it are relatively minor--one is that the right side clasp actually covers up the PSP Go's battery light--so if you're charging your PSP Go in the case, you may not be able to see when the light turns green indicating a full charge. Additionally, I don't really like the use of velcro for the clasp, but it's not obnoxiously used, so I'll excuse it for that. Overall, I personally think that if you want a sturdy case, this is a good product. There are definitely drawbacks to it, but most of the drawbacks don't actually AFFECT me, personally, so I do not regret purchasing it. I will likely buy a set of screen protectors as well, so that when I REMOVE the Go from the case I still feel that the screen is protected. If you're worried about breaking your Go, just be cautiously firm when placing it in and taking it out of the case. It's definitely not as bad as some have made it seem, as long as you apply pressure to the whole system, and not just the screen or controls, when inserting it/removing it.

Solid Hard Case but cannot stand on its own as described,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

I finally returned this product after a week of ownership.
Simply put it doesn't worth $19.99. It doesn't stand on its own for movie viewing as it is described on the box. It also makes the screen harder to slide even I know the trick on how to insert the PSPgo in it. Today, Amazon has finally lowered the price of this faux leather case which is now cheaper than the soft neoprene case. I would say, if you can find better case out there, you might as well just skip this one.

Does not fit PSP Go well,

I bought this case at a game store today, and hope to be returning it tommorrow. I felt like I was going to break either the Go or the case itself by trying to get the PSP Go to fit into the case, and I had to push on the screen much harder than I would have liked to access the buttons. I'm not sure how it's supposed to stand on it's own, either. I recommend the PSP Go Soft Carrying Case instead, especially since it covers the entire system and is very soft, though you cannot play the system while it's in the recommended case.
EDIT: After reading some of the other reviews, I stand by mine. I still did not like how hard I had to push on the screen, and since I take my portables out of the cases so often, I did not like the way I had to put the Go back in or take it out. While I did not test it, it looks like you cannot connect the Go to the PSP Go Cradle without taking it out of this case thanks to the clips on the bottom, and I use the cradle to connect the PSP to my computer and to my TV.

Ive had this a couple months and I really love this case for my PSPgo. The outer skin feels really rich and is somewhat hard shelled. Its allot easier to hold onto then the slick surface of the unit. The interior is felt like and very soft. Ive used this in conjunction with the clear protector invisible cover for the ultimate protection for my PSP go. As you can play the game and charge it right in the case, I rarely ever take it out for anything except M2 memory card insertion. Its very securely held in place and cant fall out accidentally. This thing will protect your PSP go from daily wear and doesn't add any significant bulk so it still goes in your pocket. Now all this being said, as you can reach all the buttons your unit, there's still some chance it could be damaged if you drop it as the corners are exposed for accessing the L & R buttons but I see no way around that to be able to play it still in the case, but over all this thing will keep your unit in good shape. I give it 5 stars

Good overall official product to protect your case in style,

I purchased this recently, even after reading all the negative reviews. Since I have been bringing my PSP Go each day to work, I wanted protection... and until the cheap Chinese knock-offs come out this was the way to go. I will lay out the pros and cons as usual first:
PROS: -Encompasses the PSP Go perfectly and snug -Build quality is nice even with faux leather -Ability to play while having the case on -Looks and feels like an expensive PDA holster/glasses case -Ability to charge device without removing the case (Note: I do not have the charge base yet to test if it works with this on... if anyone knows let me know!) -Usable as a stand to sit the PSP Go upright for use with my PS3 controller CONS: -Case does make it hard to hit the volume buttons with the screen open -Velcro, although just a thumbnail size is a bit tacky... wish it was a magnet instead Some neutral points are that it was a bit tight getting the PSP Go in the first time, but no big deal. Also the sliding screen takes like 15% more effort to slide up which is also no big deal in my books. To conclude... this product is just what it is advertised to do, protect! I feel that especially at $12.99(which is what this is going for @ amazon today 10/9/09) this is a great deal to add some protection to your product.

A high quality product. Only issue ocurrs when you want to play and the fastener belt with velcro falls in front of the screen. And when you try to put it backwards, it'll be hard to access L and R buttons. But after all, it's a good product

It looks good, but that's about it,
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PSPgo Traveler Case - Black (Accessory)
This case is mainly good if your electronic devices, are also your accessory. Here's why I say that, first, the L/R triggers are exposed at all times, along with the Power and Wireless switches. Meaning that they can be damaged if you drop you Go, even when the case is closed, which defeats the purpose of it being a "protective" case.
Second, yes it doubles as a stand, but the velcro that holds it in that position, isn't strong enough to support the feature. So watching movies is almost impossible, and on top of that, you cant use your headphones in the stand position. So if you want to enjoy a movie during a long flight, it'll be easier just to place your PSP, on your tray. Third, yes you can play your PSP while it's in the case, but it's so unnatural and uncomfortable, your gameplay will suffer from it. Fourth, when open, it's difficult to access the volume and screen buttons, on the top of the system. While this case looks nice, I like the faux leather, and it fits well in your pocket, that's about all it is good for. I don't trust it to protect my PSP if it fell. If your the type who look at you electronics as an accesory, and you know you won't be putting you Go in any danger, then buy the case, otherwise, stay away from it. I HIGHLY suggest the soft case, it's bulky, but it will protect your system, alot better than this case will.

Tight, but a good case overall,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PSPgo Traveler Case - Black (Accessory)
Edit: After having used this case for a while now, I have come to really appreciate the case and changed my rating accordingly. The case is tight initially, but it loosens after a few days of use. I quickly go used to playing the Go in the case - the only remaining problem is that I can't change the volume when the Go slider is open. Overall, I feel safer sticking the Go in my pocket or bag with this case, and I don't even notice the case when I'm playing these days.
Original review: I bought this case immediately after buying my PSP Go - the Go is such a sleek piece of tech that the last thing you want to see happen is that it gets scratched! The Go mounts into the case fine, but the case is SUPER tight. It's really hard to slide the Go open inside the case or to close the slider without inadvertently pushing some of the buttons on the PSP or even feeling like you might damage the device. Also, I don't have very large hands, and I found it very hard to play the Go when it was in this case - the L and R shoulder buttons were hard to get at when playing because the front of the case (flipped open and over) was generally in the way. Likewise, I couldn't access the volume buttons because there wasn't enough space between the raised Go screen and the case to reach them. Finally, other reviewers have said that this case doesn't stand on its own (to hold the PSP upright). For me, this did work - you just have to fasten the velcro on the backside. However, the case works as a stand, but it holds the Go at about a 90 degree angle (which is inconvenient for watching video) and it only holds the Go sturdy if the slider is down (i.e., for watching video...without headphones). It's a shame that Sony couldn't make a better protective case for their own product than this. I definitely don't recommend this product.

Ok overall case has great materials but some uncovered spots and its awkward to get the psp in the case.Overall I rate 4 stars compared to other cases .I haven't to play it with the flap open on top of table so I don't know if it works ,once you get it in is easier to flip the screen up and down . This cover make the pspgo a little more bulky making the device more comfortable while playing .

It doesn't stand by its own.
If you manage it to finally put it as stand with additional Velcro the headphones wouldn't allow you to stand at the same time Cheap material Doesn't protect the Left and Right top controls. Hard to slide the PSP once is in. |
