5.0 out of 5 stars Hook up your MAC to your TV/Flat screen
I'm going to keep this simple. For 20.00 you can hook up your late model MAC (MacBook in my case) to your flatscreen. You do not need to get mini-dvi to dvi to HDMI as most of the forums recommend. Get this and I personally got the 10ft HDMI cable and set up the television as a dual monitor setup. Very Cool. If you have surround sound I would recommend getting the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Adaptor Does Not Work
DO NOT BUY. I did not believe the other people who wrote that. This adaptor does not work at all.
SOLUTION: use the original Mac made Mini DVI to standard DVI. Then get a reputable adaptor Standard DVI to HDMI cord.

It looks like a Mini DVI plug but the metal part is not the correct shape and does not make the connection properly on the older...

Get this and I personally got the 10ft HDMI cable and set up the television as a dual monitor setup. Very Cool. If you have surround sound I would recommend getting the Toslink to optical mini-adapter as it is super easy to hook up your mac to surround sound also. It actually sounds better than cable and DVD's in my opinion. BTW, this item is plug and play. I did not have to set up anything software wise.

I am using this with a white 13 inch Macbook. Product works flawlessly, I get full 1080p resolution on my monitor. The build quality is decent.

I received a white version, as pictured.

This cable does just what is intended to do. Just mirror display and it's clear as a bell on the TV . Note: works with mini dvi port on the late MacBooks. However the new Aluminum MacBooks have a mini display port and this wont word without another adapter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mini DVI port or Mini Display port?, July 13, 2009

This review is from: PTC Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter with 6ft HDMI Cable for Macintosh (Electronics)
BE CAREFUL!

I'm sure this item works fine but it does not fit my computer's port. I have a new macbook unibody which has the smaller MINI DISPLAY PORT. The older black or white macbooks have the larger MINI DVI PORT. Even by looking at the picture I couldn't tell which was which and so I took a chance and got it wrong. I now have to order a MINI DISPLAY PORT to HDMI for my computer.

NOTE: There is also a third size port: the MICRO DVI port which I believe is for the macbook air although it looks like the new airs have the MINI DESPLAY port according to apple.com.

hope that helps.

1.0 out of 5 stars Adaptor Does Not Work, December 9, 2010
This review is from: PTC Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter with 6ft HDMI Cable for Macintosh (Electronics)
DO NOT BUY. I did not believe the other people who wrote that. This adaptor does not work at all.
SOLUTION: use the original Mac made Mini DVI to standard DVI. Then get a reputable adaptor Standard DVI to HDMI cord.

It looks like a Mini DVI plug but the metal part is not the correct shape and does not make the connection properly on the older macbook or mac mini. This results in absolutely NO transmission of signal. Poorly made adaptor on the female end as well as the metal pulls out from the plastic when HDMI cord is removed. The adaptor is completely worthless and seems a risk to break the mini DVI connector on the computer. The HDMI cord is fine however so it is not a total loss.

This problem came up when my new TV showed up without a VGA input. I guess those are becoming obsolete. None of those Mini DVI to HDMI appear to be made be reputable company. Try the above solution.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, February 11, 2009
This review is from: PTC Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter with 6ft HDMI Cable for Macintosh (Electronics)
I got this mostly to watch netflix instantly on my TV with my macbook. They have a special thing to do it, but this was cheeper, so I went with it. In fact, I'm typing on my TV right now! The HDMI cable IS black, not white, but I'm okay with that. It works. The quality is pretty good, but not fantastic, as you could expect from attaching your 13.3 inch macbook to an 42 inch TV screen. If you want to watch movies, you have to get another cable to use your TV's speakers with your macbook. I haven't gotten mine yet, but i found something around the house that I am using for now. This is a great deal, and i wouldn't hesitate to buy it!

Item received in timely manor. Appears to be well made. Only 'disappointment' is that picture shows HDMI to HDMI cable as white while I received a black cable. Not really a big issue, just aesthetics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best investment in a long time, March 23, 2009
This review is from: PTC Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter with 6ft HDMI Cable for Macintosh (Electronics)
This was BY FAR the best way for me to go. I have this hooked up to my MacBook and my 46" TV, and I'm happy as a clam! BUT, you do need an audio cable also, since the mini-DVI port on the MacBook doesn't send sound. I'm using a headphone jack to RCA adapter as well, and it is brilliant, if I must say so myself. My only objection is that the HDMI cable they had in stock was black, not white, but it works just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality, Great Price, February 18, 2010

This review is from: PTC Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter with 6ft HDMI Cable for Macintosh (Electronics)
I have ordered discount audio and video components from China with some varied results. There have been times when an iPod connected to a Bose sound system via an 1/8 inch audio cable can't even reach above certain volume due to the poor quality of the cable.

This is definitely not one of those instances. The quality was not lost whatsoever going from my computer to the television via this adapter. My father-in-law has the same adapter and paid over 3 times as much as I did, and there is absolutely no difference in the video quality.

Please be aware, however, of the adapter's limits. If you are planning to use this adapter to connect your Mac directly to a tv, it will work great on the VIDEO, but there will be NO AUDIO. The Macs that have the mini-DVI port do not have digital audio, so it cannot be converted through the HDMI. I simply connect my Mac to the TV for great quality video, and then plug my Mac into a speaker system for audio. Works great for me!

Product worked as described. I use it on a macbook which has the mini dvi output and then has the hdmi connector to my lcd tv. It is plug and play nothing had to be done to the computer or tv for it to work which is what i like. No sound will go through this though had to purchase a rca cable that hooks up to the microphone jack up on your computer which i then hooked up to my sourround sound system had a spot in the back that was really easy just plug and play. Cant beat the price use it every day for netflix movies.
