I got this item because it claimed to be identical to the apple branded mini displayport to dvi adapter. In fact, it is not. It can not display resolutions that the apple branded adapter can display, and in fact the item I received didn't work at all. At least I didn't have to pay much for it...it will basically cost more to return than I paid for it...

What can I say? One end goes into the mini DisplayPort on your Mac and your DVI monitor plugs into the other end. The adapter works perfectly for adding a second monitor to a current generation Mac Mini (or anything with a mini-DisplayPort) and is about half the price I have seen for other products that do the same thing. Why pay more?

I bought this product because it seemed like a cheaper alternative to an Apple branded adapter that would do the same thing.

I've found that although it does work some of the time, it does not always work.

Frustratingly, when my MacBook Pro comes back from sleep, I often don't get any output to my external monitor connected through this adapter.

When this happens, I have to unplug and replug the adapter several times before I finally get a picture on the other display.

I would not recommend this product because of this issue.

I use this to connect an unibody 15" Mac Pro to a Dell 20" 1680x1050 LCD. Works great and much cheaper than the Apple branded.

I ordered this item over a year and a half ago. The item has worked well with my mid-2009 Macbook Pro and my Dell 20" monitor. However, the DVI adapter no longer works. The DVI adapter heats up and doesn't deliver a signal to the monitor. I would have thought this DVI adapter would have lasted longer than it did. I have a VGA adapter and that still works with the displayport. So the DVI adapter eventually failed. I think the device worked well before it stopped working and I would recommend buyers look elsewhere for another adapter.

This adapter does work in hooking up an external monitor (successfully hooked up a 24" monitor at 1920x1080 resolution). However, it is not fully shielded, or the shielding is faulty, and when attached my wifi internet connection is greatly reduced to be basically unusable. Buyer beware!

I bought this to use with my macbook and some external displays. I was a little disappointed to discover that this can't be paired with a DVI-> VGA adapter. I've since then discovered that it's not a limitation of this product, but with all DisplayPort to DVI adapters.

I didn't experience any problems using this with a DVI to HDMI adapter either. No screen flicker or anything. The price is just ok though. [...]
