At last count, Itoya made 5 different versions of their Profolio portfolio/presentation books. They have The Original Profolio, The Profolio Evolution, The Profolio Advantage, The Profolio Expo, and finally The Profolio Professional. The Profolio Professional is Itoya's top of the line model and I highly recommend sticking with this line and this line only, if you can. Unfortunately Itoya doesn't make the Profolio Professional any larger than 13x19 or 14x17. So if you need a larger sized Profolio then you will need to go outside the Professional line. If you need a Profolio that is 13x19/14x17 or smaller than I HIGHLY recommend going with the Professional line. Yes, they are a bit more expensive but they are absolutely worth the extra money.

First and foremost the Professional line comes with a soft padded polyurethane cover, which has the appearance and feel of natural leather and is extremely resilient to wear and tear. All of the other lines come with hard polypropylene covers. This may not seem like a big difference to some but I couldn't possible disagree more. The padded polyurethane cover not only looks considerably nicer, it also ages much better than the polypropylene covers. Most importantly, the Professional's just feel so much better in your hands than the other versions. The padded polyurethane just has a great feel to it and ultimately it makes flipping through a presentation book a far more enjoyable experience. I have gotten so used to the padded polyurethane that when I go to my larger 18x24 books, which have hard polypropylene covers....well, they simply feel cheap by comparison. Fortunately I recently found a company that produces an 18x24 presentation book that actually has a cover that has a similar feel and appearance.

The cover is VERY nice... and the "pages" are as advertised, exceptionally clear. However it isn't perfect.

1. The first print holding page was not sealed on the far right edge properly. It was split, so I had to cut that page out. This is a common problem with other Itoya fixed portfolio albums (I also have the 8.5 x 11 which had the same problem). I think Itoya has a quality control problem with their Polyglass pages.

2. You cannot add pages to this.

3. If you fill this album up with the advertised 48 prints, the portfolio bulges in the spine area. This is true with ALL their portfolio "books"

If you like the ability to add to or change pages within a portfolio, I recommend you get the Itoya binder, where you can add, remove or change pages very easily. Even so, I would recommend this to a friend, with the above caveats.

The port has a nice cover but the sheets inside are pretty thin. Two of them ripped open at the seam after putting the pictures in for the first time. I just cut the sheets out but I hope it doesnt happen to any others.

The binder material was changed... This was not indicated in the ad for purchase .
I only found this out once the product was delivered with a sticker on the outside of the wrapper stating " new look"
This is not always a good thing !!! The binders were a nice looking leather style.. Now they look cheaper and plastic.

So now they do not match the ones I have previously purchased . This should have been indicated so I could have based my purchase on this information.

I like this product and it is the best out there IMO, but it is not perfect. My biggest beef is the album has a split between pages 12 and 13, where the spine is connected, and the pages facing each other here are scratched and I find it like looking thru a dirty window. The rest of the pages of the albums are usually pristine. But if your making an album these pages are a big fail. Quality control needs to be stepped up in whatever manner they connect these pages to the album.
