From the Manufacturer

Purell Advanced

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer is the #1 Brand in Hospitals, trusted and safely used by healthcare workers and parents for over 20 years. When this Purell brand was reformulated in 2012 because of advancements in science and breakthrough technology, it won GOJO experts the prestigious William D. Rutala Award for groundbreaking development in hand sanitizer effectiveness. The proprietary formulation includes a 70% ethyl alcohol active ingredient and multiple skin conditioners to help protect skin from dryness. Due to its optimized blend of ingredients, Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer can be used daily without harming skin. This makes it the right choice for any environment: hospitals, long-term care facilities, office buildings, schools, food-service facilities and even at home.

Where to Use

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer is ideal for on-the-go sanitizing needs. In the car, in a purse, on a backpack or in a gym bag, the small size bottles are perfect when soap and water aren’t available. Use for travel, outdoor fun or group activities. Larger sizes fit desks and kitchen areas.

Advanced Formulation

Backed by over 20 years of skin care expertise, Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer is designed to be safely used on a daily basis for 99.99% germ kill. This proprietary non-drying formulation comes in Original, Aloe and new seasonal scented varieties.

How to Use

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer is dermatologist-tested for effective hand sanitizing. It’s ideal for use before eating, after such 'high traffic touch points' as elevator buttons or doorknobs, or wherever germ transmissions occur. Use in as little as 15 seconds for greater than 99.99% germ kill.

Optimized Packaging

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer comes in a variety of sizes to fit your needs: 1 ounce bottle with a Jelly Wrap carrier, 2 ounce bottles or 8 ounce tabletop bottles. PET recyclable containers make it easy to support sustainability as part of an overall health and wellness management.

Key Features

over 99.9% of germs while maintaining skin health. The #1 Brand Trusted and Used by Hospitals is gentle enough to be used throughout the day without damaging the skin.

Take the 30-Day Challenge

A study conducted by the University of Arizona revealed the use of Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer can significantly reduce the transfer of germs to the hands and commonly touched surfaces within a house-hold. This study tracked the movement of germs in homes of families with children and the potential impact of Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer on reducing the transfer of germs to other household members. When Purell Advanced Hand sanitizer was used by all family members at least once in an 8 hour day there was a significant reduction of germs on hands of about 99%, and substantially outperformed the test house-holds that didn’t use any Purell products to help prevent the spread and transmission of germs. For very few products do I think the name brand is worth the extra cost. For household and personal care products, I don't buy name brand much of anything unless it's the same price or less than the store brand or generic. Recently, I worked my way through a half-gallon of a major drugstore version of hand sanitizer. After that bottle, but before receiving this sanitizer to review, I found myself purchasing Purell at the drugstore because I couldn't stand the generic any longer. It would leave my hands sticky after it dried. Purell hand sanitizer really is a step above all of the generic that I have purchased in the past and it's worth the extra expense to me. For me, It has a nice scent and the alcohol smell is not as overpowering as some. I also like that it doesn't dry my hands out as much as others. Most importantly, it dries perfectly and doesn't leave the hands sticky.

I personally have to keep a bottle in the car to clean my hands when I leave a store or just been somewhere I feel I need to clean my hands afterward, but before I get home. I know the protection is probably all in my head, but hey, it seems like a good idea and it's only alcohol and doesn't have anti-bacterials like some soaps.

Purell has a rewards website where you complete tasks to earn points, which can then be redeemed for coupons and other rewards. I found the coupons really helpful to cut down on the cost when I was buying this where they took coupons.

Surprisingly unlike other sanitizers this doesnt have an overwhelming fragrant smell or come in some weird green or blue color that makes it a turn off. Smell wise I always disliked those handsantizers that had such powerful smells that they stuck with you for several minutes or linger longer than that. Its pretty problematic when one uses them in the car as well as one doesnt really want that smell with them while they drive, its distracting. In any case, Purells instant handsanitizer only has a pleasant light odor when its applied but it swiftly vanishes after that. It does well for moisturizing too, at least thus far when applying it and then remaining indoors in a social environment like my classroom or work space. I dont think itd hold up in the blistery conditions outside as winter gets going but one wouldnt use a hand sanitizer as a substitute for other preventative measures like that.

So far Purell is my favorite of the hand sanitizers due to its quick dissipating odor and moisturizer effects in a normal color.

This is the only hand sanitizer I use anymore. I used to use the Bath & Body Works sanitizers but certain scents are too much for my nose now. After application and the initial alcohol scent, the Purell only has a barely detectable smell. I keep a bottle in every bathroom, the kitchen, my car, and my purse. When I don't have regular rubbing alcohol around, I use Purell to sanitize things like digital thermometers, my keyboard and mouse, and the handles on shopping carts (a habit I picked up from my mom, along with carrying around fast food restaurant napkins everywhere).

There are different types of Purell santitizers with different additives. This one has vitamin E to supposedly keep hands from drying out. I've never used a hand sanitizer that didn't dry my hands to some extent, so I try to keep some hand lotion around too.

We use this stuff religiously at our house. With 2 little ones, it's nice to be able to squeeze a small amount on their hands and go, rather than having to wash hands for every little mess they get into. It comes out nicely, but after a while (about a month or so of use) I did find I had to clean out the pump b/c it was getting a bit goopy, making the sanitizer shoot out all over the place. It spreads nicely and a little bit goes a long way. We keep this in our house, car, and purse! Purell gives me peace of mind, especially during cold and flu season. It does have an alcohol type smell when you first put it on, but that fades after a few minutes and is not too overpowering. Even my little ones with sensitive skin have no trouble using this. Overall, it's a MUST have in our house!

I'm not a huge user of hand sanitizers, but when I do I always prefer Purell, and this product is no different. It goes on easy and dries pretty quickly, leaving hands feeling clean without any stickiness or unpleasant scent. The reason I gave it four stars is because I frequently wash my hands so don't really use it too much, but it works well when I need it to. If you work in an environment where a hand sanitizer is a must, I'd definitely recommend this one. I know my sister, who's a nurse, likes it very much. It says on the bottle that it comes with moisturizers, which is nice. I prefer the way my hands feel after washing with soap, but this product doesn't dry them out too much either.

Overall, a pretty useful product to have around!

I use a LOT of hand sanitizer. The best has been Purell, and the worst hand sanitizer I ever used was some I bought at the dollar store that smelled very strongly of cheap, crudely distilled vodka. The Sam's Club, Kroger and drug store brands are all good, but I like the Purell the best. The Purell smells strongly of alcohol with no perfumed scent that I can detect, and it dries quickly without making my hands feel dried out. The active ingredient is ethyl alcohol (70%) and not isopropyl alcohol like some other hand sanitizers. They work the same, but ingesting isopropyl alcohol can make you very sick, while ingesting ethyl alcohol will just get you polluted, depending upon how much you ingest. However, I do not suggest drinking this stuff as it should taste pretty awful, but if you do at least it probably won't kill you.

I always keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car and kitchen. Every time I get back into the car when running errands I always use it to wipe my hands off real thoroughly and make my kids use it too if they're with me. I haven't caught a cold this year yet. I think Purell is a very good product.
