Screws for closing the enclosure are the small kind that bite into plastic.
Tony
Well, tomorrow I'm gonna have to shlep it back to the retailer, pay a 15% restocking charge, and then pick up something else that actually works ...

This could have caused damage to my drive, which may have resulted in sensitive data loss.

it does get really hot after an hour of use so i drilled holes all over the case for ventilation , it still gets hot but now im not afraid it will catch on fire....if you can afford a vented one just buy it but if you cant this is a good choice just make holes all over.......

The enclosure works perfectly, but there are several items to keep an eye out for.
1. The led light was lose and I had to glue it into the socket that the bulb fits into.
2. The drive connectors for power and data need to snap onto the adapter inside the box and you need to push and adjust the angle of the box relative to the drive a bit. Be careful how you hold the drive and case so you do not break the board on the case.
4. The screws are slightly different sizes and two mount the case supports to the case and two secure the case to the inside electronics.
5. I found that when I took the drive into work and tested it on my computer there, it would allow access to all files and folders except the "documents and settings" folder. Since I do not have administrator rights, it said I do not have access just to that folder. I will have to check this when I get a new computer where I have admin rights.
6. The LED only goes on when the drive is connected to a computer.
7. You can see if it is working before by listening to see if the drive starts spinning in the event you are not at a computer at the time.,
8. This inclosure does not have any amenities such as a data backup button, but for the price, it can't be beat.
9. I ran the drive for several hours and it stayed fairly cool.
10. It even got knocked off a computer when someone pulled the cord (18 inch fall) and kept working.

This was exactly what I was looking for and pretty easy to set up. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 star review were the alignment of the screw holes and small screws made it a little more challenging to install the drive than I wanted but it went together and is all good. The quality of the enclosure seems quite good and sturdy.

I bought one of these and it didn't work (wouldn't show my drive) so I returned it. I was using a 2TB drive and after reading the other comment about not working on a 2TB drive I started looking more closely. I saw enough inconsistencies in the documentation and stuff written on the box that it scared me. First, this black model with the part number that ends in "B" says on the box it has 5Gb transfer and supports SATA I & II. The silver model with the part number that ends in "S" says on the box that it has 6Gb transfer and supports SATA I & II & III. However, the purextechnology.com website says only 5Gb and SATA I & II for the silver model. So the black & silver boxes imply different components and capabilities, and the purex website doesn't agree with the silver box. Perhaps it's a perfectly good drive enclosure, but I get worried when even the manufacturer can't give a straight story on the capabilities, so I just returned this and went with another brand. If you want one of these, the silver box says it is more modern & capable.

OMG. Bought this with high hopes. Needed a new case since using a desktop cloning station to access drive.

The case arrived with lose screw and bent LED with rusted leads (see pic @ http://i.imgur.com/W4BGylq.jpg ). I knew should have just returned but went ahead and tighten screw.

Installed my WORKING 750GB drive, attached power adapter and turned on. BAM/POP/BAM/Sizzle and drive starts clicking real loud.

Moved the drive back to desktop cloning station and NO work. Just clicking sound. So I just lost a perfectly good Seagate 750GB drive.

Sure as heck not going to try another drive in it.

Not recommended at all. Lot better cases for same or little more $

EDIT 10/13/2014: Sadly after all this time not even a "sorry" from the seller... So this case cost me about $120 after replacing the drive it destroyed.

The only thing this bay could use would be some air venting or perhaps some heatsink ridges to help it stay cool. In my case the bay gets warm to the touch but not to level of being able to cook an egg or anything and I would just feel safer if it could help keep things a little cooler with some case improvements. Beyond that, it comes with everything that was needed, hooked right up to my PC's and no issues with transferring data at good rates. I would buy another if needed.

This was purchased as a gift. Everything looks and works as advertised. I would have heard back by now if there were any problems. They loved this gift!

The case is generally good. I may be picking up more of these.

Pros:
I prefer the type of USB3 cable used here
optional feet are very stable feeling
power brick feels very reliable
partial sled for drive to screw into feels secure, no concern of components shifting

Cons:
plastic parts don't mesh perfectly into the metal frame
feet pads are not easily removable... they use adhesive to cover the screw that holds the foot on, so permanent decision.
One of my units has a DOA led light. checked connection etc, but just nothing. This doesn't hinder operation of the device, and seems replacable as it is plugged into the circuit board using a 2prong plug instead of solder.
Screws for closing the enclosure are the small kind that bite into plastic. Repeated opening/closing would result in breakage.

Overall a good device, but if you are looking for an enclosure you plan on switching drives in frequently, you may want to keep looking.

If you are looking for a permanent home for a single drive, then this is a great buy.
