I purchased the PWR+ USB 2.0 Extra Portable Slim 24x CD/RW CDRW CD±RW CD-ROM CDRW CD Writer Burner External Portable Optical Drive. My PowerBook G4's CD-ROM drive broke. It cost more for me to repair it than it was to to purchase an external CD-ROM drive. I loaded the software and then It was as if I had a new computer...I'd recommend this CD-ROM drive to Mac user.

Packaging was a plain brown, properly-sized box. Arrived safely, included a driver disc, but was not needed. Works perfectly, and will be perfect for the light uses I have planned for it. Do not expect an indestructible burner at this price. As with all electronics equipment, exercise some care in handling, and it will be fine.

I can't recommend this item for any computer. I've got a new Toshiba Mini with Win7, and it doesn't work properly although it clearly says "Toshiba Mini" in the product details.

The installed drivers are for Win98, and the enclosed directions are for Win98. There is nothing newer available, and there is no manufacturer information. The driver recognizes some older CDs. However, it is not recognizing newer ones, in particular my MS Office 2010 CDs, which was the reason I made the purchase of this CD-RW. The CD is recognized on other machines, including an Dell running Vista and an HP running Win XP. So, the problem isn't the CD or the operating system ... the problem is this CDRW and its drivers.

What a waste of money - it belongs back in the last century ... along with its available drivers. In addition, the drive comes in a non-retail brown box -- wtf?

Save your money. Network your netbook to your other devices at home & at work. After I returned this optical drive, that's what I did.
