I purchased the PWR+ USB 2.0 Extra Portable Slim 24x CD/RW CDRW CD±RW CD-ROM CDRW CD Writer Burner External Portable Optical Drive. My PowerBook G4's CD-ROM drive broke. It cost more for me to repair it than it was to to purchase an external CD-ROM drive. I loaded the software and then It was as if I had a new computer...I'd recommend this CD-ROM drive to Mac user.

Packaging was a plain brown, properly-sized box. Arrived safely, included a driver disc, but was not needed. Works perfectly, and will be perfect for the light uses I have planned for it. Do not expect an indestructible burner at this price. As with all electronics equipment, exercise some care in handling, and it will be fine.

I can't recommend this item for any computer. I've got a new Toshiba Mini with Win7, and it doesn't work properly although it clearly says "Toshiba Mini" in the product details.

The installed drivers are for Win98, and the enclosed directions are for Win98. There is nothing newer available, and there is no manufacturer information. The driver recognizes some older CDs. However, it is not recognizing newer ones, in particular my MS Office 2010 CDs, which was the reason I made the purchase of this CD-RW. The CD is recognized on other machines, including an Dell running Vista and an HP running Win XP. So, the problem isn't the CD or the operating system ... the problem is this CDRW and its drivers.

What a waste of money - it belongs back in the last century ... along with its available drivers. In addition, the drive comes in a non-retail brown box -- wtf?

Save your money. Network your netbook to your other devices at home & at work. After I returned this optical drive, that's what I did.

My CD drive jammed on my circa 2007 macbook. I really like to load purchased CDs onto itunes and burn cds for my car and for friends. After researching a few external CDr's this one seemed good enough for the price. I took it home, plugged it into the macbook's usb drive, which provided both power and connection, and without any installation at all I was all set to load cd's into iTunes and burn cds. Both tasks were performed relatively quick. I played the burned CD on my stereo systema and everything checks out. Assuming it doesn't break down anytime in the near future, this seems to be spot on, and you cant beat the price.

I have just started to use this product and have found it to work really well. So I am very happy with my purchase. If you need one this works just fine. DGS

Bought unit to go with Asus Netbook. It's light in weight. It works really well. I'm running windows 7, and it worked fine.

I bought this for my mother to use with her new laptop. She's... not very technologically gifted, and not very familiar with Windows 7 yet, so I was a little uncertain about it when reading one of the reviews.

Turns out I had nothing to worry about; my mother met up with me this morning, raved it was so quick and easy for her to use. She just plugged it in, walked away to give it a minute to do its thing, then it was good to go.

Definitely gonna get myself one when I get my travel laptop at the end of the year.

Not fancy, but priced right. I plugged it into my computer, and it worked without any problem. I needed this because the fancy Dell CD/DVD drive on my Dell computer doesn't always work on CD's.

The product works well and suits my purpose. It was received quickly in excellent condition.

I ordered this unit as a second DVD drive for my PC. It was plug and play and working immediately!
