What a Classic,
By cj the great (Woodinville, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pac-Man (Game Cartridge)
This is a great game for anyone. Ever see one of these games in an old pizza place or something like that? This cartridge lets you play it portabley. You can make the screen like the arcade style games, with the whole area shown on the screen, or you can have 1/4 of the area on the screen at once. This game is such a classic, it should keep you busy for a very long time, whether sitting on your bed or sitting in a car.

Pac Man eats on,

This review is from: Pac-Man (Game Cartridge)
"Pac Man" was one of the first games that I got for the Game Boy. Like most Pac Man games, it's a good one. It's pretty much the classic Pac Man game with all the classic gameplay and sounds from the arcade. But it has an added feature that makes it even better. You can play it where it shows the game in a close-up view while the screen moves according to where you guide Pac Man on the screen. Or you can put it in 1/4 size mode where it shows the whole screen and makes it more like the original. If you like Pac Man games and still have the original Game Boy, "Pac Man" would be a good game to get.

Pac-Man--a timeless classic among games. Although over 30 years old, Pac-Man still manages to captivate, challenge, and entertain. It's also been ported to nearly every single video game platform ever in existence; some ports have been good, others bad. The original GameBoy port is one of the good ones!
GameBoy Pac-Man retains all the qualities of the original arcade version, with minimal sacrifices. Pac-Man, the maze, the ghosts, dots, fruit--they're all there, and they look just the same as in the arcade (except in monochrome, yet it -works- for this game). Control is very smooth, although the use of the GameBoy's directional pad may take some getting used to for gamers new to the console. Gameplay is also fast and exiting, unlike other ports that slow the game down to varying degrees. The game can be toggled by pressing left or right at the title screen to show either half the maze with nice arcade graphics, or zoomed out showing the whole board (which has smaller sprites, but still playable). All in all, if you're a big Pac-Man fan, a newbie to the series, or even if you just have a case of Pac-Man fever, Pac-Man on the original GameBoy is sure to satisfy your cravings. It's better than any other port of the game I've played, save for the Namco Museum series on Playstation and Playstation 2 (also on GameCube and Xbox).
