5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful music
I bought this cd years ago and it has brought me hours of pleasure. I Musici performs Palchelbel's Canon with grace, precision, and feeling. Throw in Mozart's familiar Eine Kleine Nachtmusik plus Albinoni's gem and this is a wonderful disc. Recorded sound is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Nachtmusik Around? Very Possibly!, January 12, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pachelbel: Canon; Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik; Albinoni: Adagio (Audio CD)

This CD by the venerable I Musici chamber group is absolutely superlative! After listening to a half-dozen or so recordings of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik I conclude that this recording is likely the very best to be had. (An arguable equal would be the 1985 recording by Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin's in the Field.)

The dozen or so members of I Musici, led by solo violinist Pina Carmirelli, make up just the right-sized group to perform the chamber pieces here to their best. What makes this recording so great is the truly marvelous playing (precise, together, and musically right on) along with the fine acoustic environment and the expert digital recording. I Musici have been in existence since 1952 and have become an unbeatable team at playing music of this type.

Not only is the Eine Kleine Nachtmusik great, but all of the charming long-time popular chamber favorites enjoy near-perfect performances here. (And speaking of perfection, I think a good case could be made that Mozart's Nachtmusik is the most perfect example of its musical species that has ever been composed.)

In sum, you can hardly go wrong with this recording, and if you like these chamber pieces--and who wouldn't?--you will probably treasure it forever.

P.S. I see that it's listed as currently unavailable, but several new and used copies are on offer. If I didn't already have it, I'd order one of those copies post-haste!

This review is from: Pachelbel: Canon; Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik; Albinoni: Adagio (Audio CD)
Fantastic collection of classical music with a beautiful version of Eine Kleine Nachtmusic by Mozart. For the most part all the music is wonderful, fantastic selections. I'm so thrilled that I somehow got this CD years ago and it has stayed prominently in my collection.

Pachelbel: Canon; Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik; Albinoni: Adagio is a 1982 Philips Classics recording Pina Carmirelli as Solo violinist. We also get to hear I Musici ensemble. The music notes have been written by Jan Rubinstein. Translated into English by Ian F. Finlay. Here we have the pleasure to listen to Mozart, Haydn, Pachabel and Beethoven. Highly recommended indeed. 5/5.
