I love this book. It is on Caudiciforms which are some of the most interesting and beautiful plants in the world. It is the only book on the subject that has information on cultivation of these wonderful plants. It is well worth having. I was thrilled to find it. Once I obtained a copy I couldn't put it down.

Another great book is by Gordon Rowley called "Caudiciform & Pachycaul Succulents". I wore out my first copy of this book and had to purchase another copy. It doesn't have information on cultivation but lots of other information. I let people borrow my copy and they couldn't put it down. They had to read the book, not just look at the pictures.

If you are interested in collecting and growing "fat plants" this book is an absolute must. I find myself just flipping through the book and looking back over the amazing pictures from time to time. The book also offers good general information on purchasing and growing pachyforms.

Iliked this book very much, it is very instructive and yet for an amateur very easy to "digest" it. Incidently - what i missed is an index of the diverse plants to the effect that if i want to look up a certain plant on the way untill i found it I read a lot on others(which is not a "bad" thing at all.)

I've experimented with growing various cacti and unusual plants, often in collaboration with my reptile vivaria, but fell hard for these weird and bizarre pachyforms. All of my reptile-keeping friends are fascinated by these plants. And when I introduced them to de Vosjoli's book -- all were impressed. The photography is top shelf! I'm glad I bought this one. I was hesitant because the price point was a tad higher than I was expecting (especially for a self-published work) but I can't forget the great authorship de Vosjoli exhibited with his myriad of reptile titles, so I bought this book of exotic plants and now I'm paging through it, looking for possible additions to my modest windowsill garden. This is a book that will make any plant guy (or gal) happy. And it certainly worth every penny.

This book is the most helpful and informative plant book I have ever read. The author is thorough in his recommendations and instructions without being too technical. It's hard to put the book down once you get started. The pictures are great and will surely inspire the reader to buy more pachyforms.
I now live in El Paso, Texas, where we also grow a lot of cactus and succulents. Information on choosing pots and soil work well for the cactus too. Since we have drought conditions and high temperatures this book gives great information on dealing with this problem too.
I recommend this book to all plant lovers. It's interesting and may spark interest in a new plant hobby.

I actually avoided buying this book because I found the cover so crude... out of all the caudiciforms this is the one they chose? But besides that this book is awesome! Good information and great pictures. The glossary of pachyforms in the back is well organized with details and growing tips. One minor letdown is that there isn't a picture for each plant in the glossary, which would be more helpful than a description.

I used to collect caudiciform plants when I lived in CA. Circumstances have landed me in the snow belt, and this book helps me remember why I loved them so much...
A larger format would have made this a true coffe table volume.
