I can't believe I'm the first person to review "Nils" on Amazon. I have to admit I knew almost nothing about this guy until a few weeks ago. This is basically slow and mid tempo smooth jazz guitar with a very unique sound. Guest players like Paul Jackson, Jr., Gerald Albright, Steve Ferrone and Alex Acuna blend seamlessly into the mix. The only throw-away is a cover of the old Carol King song "You've Got a Friend" played with a drum machine, which could easily have been omitted. You can hear shades of other artists like Larry Carlton, Peter White and Chieli Minucci with a definite West Coast flavor. My favorite is a moody number called "Sneakin" that reminds me alot of Larry Carlton. The disc ends with a couple of nice acoustic tunes. A very pleasant surprise. I am sad to say that I had never heard of Nils. I just checked out his sample and thought it sounded ok. Then I heard it on the radio and I rushed to get this cd. At first I did not like the cut (you've got a friend) but now I like every cut on this cd. This guy really lays down some smooth licks. My favorite would be the title cut Pacific Coast Highway and Hey Ya. You can listen to this cd all day and never get tired of it. You can't go wrong with this cd, I promise. Check it out, Nils has come up with a fantastic cd and it definitely should be a part of your jazz collection.

Nils is struttin' his stuff on this album. He is obviously an incredible guitar talent. He employs many different syles and techniques. I found the selection of material to be a little "all over the place". The only improvement that could be made to this album, or future outings, would be for him to find a niche for himself.
This album is definitely a "must own" for the guitar lover.

I just purchased PCH and it's a gem. Like Paul Brown, where has Nils been hiding?????? He is a superb player. The arrangements are great and audio quality is superior. Nice uptempo, slick, smooth jazz guitar. Nils is now amongst my favorites: Jeff Golub, Steve Laury, Chieli Minucci, Joyce Cooling, Larry Carlton and Nick Colionne. This disc is currently # 1 on the [...] top 50 chart. Once you purchase this disc, you'll understand why.

I heard Pacific Coast Highway on the radio and immediately loved it, which meant I had to buy it, which I did. It's a wonderful CD. The title track is so "feel good". All the others are good too but even the title track has big competition with "Coming Home". A sweet soft beautiful piece. It can make me cry with the sweetness.
Nils is so excellent on the guitar that I can listen to the CD over and over again. Buy it, you'll love it.

This CD features some great guitar work. A unique style with smooth upbeat sounds. Pacific Coast highway is brilliant because the song mysteriously puts you there on the P.C. Highway - even if you're actually driving somewhere 3,000 miles away! :)

You've got to get this CD from this guy. Every cut is bangin' and soooo smooth! All you need is some California wine and you can feel the West Coast groove. Please don't confuse him with Nils Loefgren or whoever. At first I had my doubts about an axe man playin' jazz on a Fender Stratocaster but he pulls it off with flying colors. You will not be disappointed if you purchased this CD. I wish I could find out more about him like when he is touring, etc...

Nowadays the musical scene in the smooth jazz genre has visibly enhanced with the presence of true legends of the guitar; the instrument of major relevance in the Nineties decade and still on.

Nils is actually one of the great promises in this genre. He displays creativity, rhythm and vitality in every single track you randomly choose.

A wise option under any perspective.

This album by Nils is a great easy listening album that has interesting guitar licks that flow and are unobtrusive . Great album for cruisin up the ocean road .

Nils is very underrated. Thank goodness for the sound samples by amazon.com. I love his version of Georgy Porgy on this CD. Since we lost our Jazz radio station here in the SF Bay Area, I miss this type of music by him and others. I highly recommend this CD for you smooth Jazz lovers!
