First Rate Compilation Album !!, September 10, 2001
This review is from: Pacific Coast Highway (Audio CD)
If your as passionate about smooth jazz as I am then this has got to be a pretty strong recommendation. A worthy collection of some of the greatest names in the industry this album really does the spirit of smooth jazz proud. Produced by one of the greatest promoters in the UK jazz scene this recording really does instil the spirit of driving down the Californian highway in an open top, breeze in your hair, sun on your face and not a care in the world. I'm not normally a fan of compilation cds and I'm not really sure what compelled me to buy this one but I'm sure glad I did. The value for money cds pack in great names like Marc Antoine, Candy Dulfer, Dave Koz, Basia, Roger Smith and Chuck Leob. My personal favourites are Aretha Franklin's Ever Changin' Times, Candy Dufler's For The Love of You and that all time classic The Theme from Hill Street Blues. Did I mention Richard Elliot's passionate rendition of Moomba? Ahhh so much talent, so little time ...
If you enjoyed this album then a must is the later release entitled 101 Eastbound. Another excellent double album bursting at the seams with names such as Fourplay, Euge Groove, Acoustic Alchemy, David Sanborn and The Rippingtons.
Encore!!
