Buyer beware must be Pacific Digital's mantra. The USB 2.0 dvd burner I bought from them died in under six months. The burner, a lite-on, was fine it was their enclosure that failed. Their customer service was horrendous as was the shipping that I was forced to pay to receive replacement parts, which still have not arrived. If you are looking for a product that will give you reliable service and lasting performance STAY AWAY from pacific digital!!!!

Bought this to replace an older DVD writer. Easy setup and worked fine for about 3 days. Then problems started. First there were numerous write errors. Then the write speed declined from 4x to 1x or slower. It took 82 minutes to write a 2 GB folder. Then while writing another file it died altogether. No lights were on and it would not open leaving the disk inside. I won't buy a Pacific Digital product again.

This is a great dvd burner, especially for the price. It was easy to install, and it works great. I recommend this to anyone!!

I am a computer programmer/webmaster, so I know A LOT about computers. When I purchased this product, I bought it because I needed a cheap dvd burner for a project I was working on. I bought it thinking it wasn't going to last that long, but I just needed it long enough to do a few projects. I have since found that this was the easiest piece of computer equipment I have ever set up and used. They include a very expensive software FREE - Roxio CD and DVD Creator - which is THE fastest, easiest, and coolest software to burn CD's and DVD's. This drive has lasted a long time, and it was so cheap!!! I relize that this is not a major brand name, but it is much better than Sony or any other major brand. And as for there TECH SUPPORT, i got right through, spoke to an American guy, and solved my minor problem in under 8 minutes. The guy who wrote the review before me has NO idea what the heck he is talking about. Believe me, this is a wonderful product!!!

I BOUGHT A PACIFIC DIGITAL EXTERNAL CD BURNER FROM AN INTERNET SELLER. IT CAME BRAND NEW IN A SEALED BOX WITH ALL THE WARRANTY CARDS AND EVERYTHING. I AM HAVING TROUBLE INSTALLING IT SO I CALLED PACIFIC DIGITAL SEVERAL TIMES FOR HELP ONLY TO GET VOICEMAIL. MY EMAILS WERE NEVER ANSWERED EITHER. WHEN I FINALLY GOT THROUGH SOME INDIAN SOUNDING GUY TOLD ME I COULDN'T GET SUPPORT BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT FROM AN "UNAUTHORIZED SELLER"!!THAT IS UNCONSCIONABLE!!! THIS COMPANY WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS SOON BECAUSE THEY DO NOT STAND BY WHAT THEY SELL.
