Kava drinking is a traditional male social ritual practiced from Vanuatu to Tonga. Between 1986 and 1990, Ad and Lucia Linkels recorded songs sung at nine different kava sessions. The grassroots singing you'll hear on this unusual recording conveys well the earthy taste of kava itself.
