Book Description

March 11, 2012 Camping Destinations series
The Pacific Northwest is a campers paradise. It offers everything that a vacation camper could desire: seashores, snow-capped mountains, old growth forests, visitor friendly cities, and national parks. In fact, the Pacific Northwest is one of the most popular RVing and tent camping destinations in North America. Pacific Northwest Camping Destinations is a travel guide for camping travelers, those traveling in an RV and those camping with a tent. It addresses the needs of the thousands of visitors to the Pacific Northwest who arrive in an RV or who vacation travel in their family car, spending the night inexpensively in campgrounds. It's also a great book for those residents of the Pacific Northwest who are looking for new places to visit on weekend trips and during summer vacations. The largest part of the book describes over 130 great camping destinations throughout Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. There are descriptions of the local attractions and visitor activities. A selection of good camping areas convenient to the destination area are described in detail. Whenever possible the book offers a choice of commercial or government campgrounds. A map for each destination shows the location of campgrounds and attractions. In addition to the destination section, the book also lays out exciting and interesting one-week itineraries from the Northwest gateway cities of Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. Maps and written descriptions guide you along these scenic easy to negotiate tours. So come and join us for a camping visit to the Pacific Northwest. Come for a week or spent the entire summer, the choice is yours.

More About the Author

For the last 19 years Terri and I have traveled the western U.S., Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Most of this travel has been in an RV, a form of travel we love. It's affordable and comfortable, the perfect way to see interesting places.

Over the years we discovered that few guidebooks were available with the essential day-to-day information that camping travelers need when traveling in unfamiliar surroundings. Our guidebooks are designed to provide that information in a handy and easy-to-use format.

We live full time in an RV and spend almost 100% of our time traveling in the areas covered in our guidebooks while we update the books and maintain an informaton-filled website: www.rollinghomes.com.

I have traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and much of the U.S. This year travel will be limited to the Pacific Northwest. As a "native" Washingtonian and lifelong camper I've been looking for a new guidebook that combines travel info with the latest on campgrounds. There are new parks and new travel ideas - enough to generate enthusiasm and travel plans! Each listing has large icon keys that make it easy to find suitable camping spots, ie 50 amps, big rigs, activities and more. The book covers Washington, Oregon and British Columbia with everything from weekend to multi-week trip planning possibilities. Thank you to the authors for a great guidebook.

Great book July 25, 2008

We live near Tacoma and have a motorhome that doesn't fit in many of the state and federal campgrounds in the Northwest. This newest Church book is very good at helping to find the right places for our rig. In a month, using their advice, we found three wonderful RV campgrounds that we didn't know about. One is next to a first class trout river and another is at an entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park. Maybe the best part is that this book is helping us re-discover where we can go without using a lot of fuel! This is a great book for those that have never been to the Northwest as well as those that live there. Buy it! You'll like it!

Missleading Title April 27, 2011
Format:Paperback
I ask myself why is the word CAMPING even part of the title? RVing would have been more appropriate. I wonder if Mike & Terri Church have ever been "camping" in there lives. Being from the PNW---and growing up in the 50's---camping had meant going out to be with nature and leaving the refinements home. It would seem in minds of the authors camping is whether or not a 40 footer fits (is this paramount to camping today?) The authors often list when tent campers are not allowed---(Do they see the tent campers as riffraff to keep out and away from those 40 footers? Who knows but their undertone seems...)

I don't really have a problem with RV's I just think the authors should replace the word "Camping" with RVing.

Another misnomer is how they have used "British Columbia". By using the province's name, with out further defining the area covered, one would that they are referencing the whole province. Well if that is what you concluded you would be wrong. The authors/publishers are not telling you everything. What has been left out of the title is that only the lower half of the province is covered. Would it really been hard to have placed the word LOWER in front of British Columbia?

Being that the book was not about camping and that it did not cover British Columbia, in its entirety, Amazon received the book back.
