Misleading photo from manufacturer,

I ordered this tent, for my special needs daughter because it had the zippers on the bottom and between with the additional mesh and the ability to totally close her in by lowering the flaps. Well......the picture is beautiful and exactly what I need for her but the actual product is NOTHING like the picture. There are no elastic straps to hold it on the bed (just a nylon sheet like thing barely thick enough to stay on a regular bunk bed thick mattress, no zippers all around the side, no extra mesh with the fold down flaps, and no side windows as pictured - just a rectangle toward the top is all. It does not appear to be as durable either as the other bed tents we have purchased from Target in the past - all 5 of my kids love them and this is the first one that hasn't been as pictured. I love Target so I am returning this tent and I will reorder one of the other ones because my kids really love having them to sleep in at night!

My son is 6 years old and I set it up for him and it worked great!!!! He kept it up for about 1 month and it never fell over. I just took it down yesterday because he was hiding dirty clothes in it but other then that I have no complaints!!! I would definately recommend it.

We bought this tent about a year ago for our 6-year old son. He is quite developmentally delayed and we needed a way to keep him contained during the night. We had a "special needs" medical bed before this, but he has head-banging tendencies and would bang his head during the night on the hard surfaces, enough to leave bruises (eventually the bed was recalled, for other reasons). We consulted occupational therapists, doctors, nurse case managers, and durable medical equipment vendors for a solution to this problem--either a way to modify the bed we had or a different product, but there wasn't anything out there that fit our needs. About this time, our son grew out of the Pack n' Play that we'd been using as a crib when we travelled, so we needed a solution for that as well.We found this tent while surfing the Net trying to find a solution to our problem. I had a seamstress put in two zippers along the bottom (one coming in from the left to the center and one coming in from the right to the center). When you zip these two, along with the vertical one, the bed is enclosed. I join the zippers together with a clip as well because my son discovered that the center zip has a pull on the inside. It is easy off-on and I can get in there quicker in case of emergency than with the special bed that he had. For a mattress, I bought a thick foam one from IKEA and put it inside---so it's resting on the checkered skirt thing rather than the skirt going over the mattress. This makes it more stable and the tent can't fall over. We also use it to travel, once my son was able to climb out of the Pack n' Play that we'd been using. We have a second tent (modified with the zippers in the same way) and use a twin sized air mattress. Our son loves this bed and will go in it during the daytime just to hang out. He has some sensory issues and I think the feeling of being enclosed is calming for him. At night, I tell him that it's "tent time", and he crawls inside and tries to zip himself in. There's no hard surfaces that he can bang his head against. He can sleep in comfort and safety, and it has improved our lives so much. I only wish that the "special needs" equipment companies would recognize the lack of options in this area and address them.

I bought this bed tent for my nephew. He just moved up to a "big boy" bed and was hesitating to sleep in it throughout the night. The tent is one piece with the bottom fitting over the mattress like a fitted sheet. This means you cannot put a regular set of sheets onto the mattress when this is on.He climbed in right away and loved it. I'm not sure how well it will hold up. The support pipes seem flimsy and the slippery bottom material may not stay put on the mattress. H e is just using a pillow and blanket on the "floor" of the tent- hopefully there won't be night-time accidents as washing this would be a challenge. All in all, he has slept in his bed since the tent was put on :) thus making my niece and husband happy "campers!"

My grandson loves this tent for his special place, but I dislike how the checkered "sheet" is attached and is loose on the twin mattress. The "sheet" is the vinyl/nylon whatever that this is made from, and I would prefer to have cloth that's washing machine washable or I could put regular sheets on the bed. It's all attached and one piece. Sheets/blankets slide around inside.

My five year old son loved this...the only problem is it slides off the bed constantly...I'm not sure if that makes it worth not buying...as I didn't have alot of options since he has a full size bed. When I was a little girl I had a twinsize my little pony tent..this is what inspired me to buy my 5 yr old one. I never remember my "my little pony " tent sliding around...maybe they shoul make the material different on the part that covers the matteress or make it larger so that it can be tucked in. I do think it is worth the buy..keeps more space in your house but gives your child a fun place to play

I bought this tent because I was happy to see the zippered closure, as my son had a bed tent with velcro that fell apart after a couple of weeks. I received this tent, and it had velcro, not a zipper as shown in the picture. Even the box that the tent arrived in showed a zippered closure.

We bought this bed tent as a Christmas gift for my 3 year old son. We thought it would be a great gift due to the fact I had one as a child. I know it was probably 30 years ago but I know he would enjoy it just as I did.The package arrived quite quickly, which impressed me to start off. Then we proceeded to open it, to ensure all parts were intact. They were all there and seemed to be packaged well. After pulling everything out of the box to inspect we found the quality control wrote there sign off or so have you on the front flap of the tent. Why would you do that, and why a grease pencil? That really put a sour taste in our mouths. Being the optimist I am I continued to put it together to make sure nothing else is missing or messed up. All in all, it is a very DURABLE product. There are a few things I remembered on mine that I didn't see on this one. First off the door or flap is valcro, not zippered (makes it cheaper I know) the sheet on the bottom has no form fitting, needed to buy sheet stays to keep from sliding off the bed (that's just bad designing -use typical elastic in the sheets like every other sheet company). The great thing is he LOVES it! Which in my eyes is worth the money spent. He plays in it, sleeps in it, and even eats in it (wife hates that), but hey your only a kid once! Enjoy it while you can. |
