I have extremely thin skin (in the literal sense) that is very prone to cuts, especially when shaving. This Nick Stick has made shaving a lot easier for me -- it is MUCH better than a traditional styptic pen.

When you press the Nick Stick against your skin, the liquid from the base of the stick moistens the top of the stick (the part that's touching your skin), thus cauterizing your cut.

What I hate about traditional styptic pens/alum blocks:

-Pens/blocks are MESSY, leaving a white residue on your face -- and anything else they come in contact with.
-When you're using a pen or block, the entire pen/product is exposed; if you get it wet, the pen/block starts to break down, thus limiting the life of the product.
-Pens tend to run out very quickly.

Advantages of the Nick Stick:

-Well made, durable pen
-Extremely compact/portable
-Zero mess
-Lasts a REALLY long time

The seller (who is also the manufacturer) is great -- extremely fast processing and shipping.

Overall, an absolutely excellent product that I've recommended to all of my friends (including my female friends who use it when shaving their legs).

OK, how many morning shavers have never experienced a razor bite? You have to count me out. Believe me, it's much better than the great white (OK, some have pink) paper patched all over your shaving surface. Pacific Stick does the job ... just be prepared for the 1/2 a second sensory shock when the Stick does its trick.

I shave with a double edge and straight razors, and end up with my share of nicks. For small nicks this product works well. You do have to apply a couple of coats sometimes. It does not leave a visible residue like some other products. It stings a little, briefly, but not bad. This product works less well on larger cuts. For those, I recommend something like Proraso Stypic Gel.

Pacific Shaving Company makes claims such as "`Every Purchase Plants a Tree'" and "your purchase of this product has just planted a tree." Based on what I read on their website, they do seem to be heavily involved in tree planting, and work with an organization calls Tree for The Future which claims to have planted 100,000 trees. However, on their website there is a form you need to fill out, with the product bar code or invoice number if you bought directly from the company, which you need to enter if you want a tree planted. It appears as though the claim to plant a tree with every purchase actually means, with every purchase when the purchaser has also filled out this form. So the claim seems to be a misleading. I tried three times on the form and it rejected my UPC number from my package each time.... So, no tree for me.

Tree planting aside, they seem like "green," responsible company, this is a good product, and I do recommend it.

Just what was needed for scrapes and cuts. For some reason, can't find this in local stores anymore, so good old Amazon to the rescue! Both my husband and I use this on a regular basis. Terrific product and great price!!

I have found that I have to use this product several times in a row in order to get any results. The first few times, it seems to smear the blood coming out of the cut, causing it to turn from bright red to brown and dry onto my skin, and only partially stop the bleeding. Since I obviously can't go out with a giant brown spot on my face I clean off the mess (usually using a no-sting antiseptic) and then I reapply. Gradually the amount of smeared dried blood fades and the rate of bleeding slows. So, this is by no means a great method of dealing with this problem. However, it does work eventually. Another problem is that the blood causes the roller ball to become a disgusting color. I find myself rubbing the stick onto a tissues to try to "clean" the ball. I don't think the stinging or the smell is that terrible. Like others have said, just "man up." I'm not sure I will buy it again.

The Nick Stick does a decent enough job of stopping bleeding. However, it stings like mad! The stinging lasts and lasts, even after applying moisturizing aftershave. Seriously, I was still stinging the next day. It stings enough that they mention it on the back of the packaging and even challenge your manhood by saying, "you can handle it." It also left my skin extremely dry.

I have to wonder about the sanitary aspects of a roll-on delivery system. If I roll it across a cut, the blood gets on the roller ball, which goes back inside the bottle, mixing with the rest of the contents. What does that bottle contain after rolling it across dozens of cuts? Eeeewww! At least I can rinse off a styptic pencil and it dries.

In addition the Nick Stick is quite expensive, about twice the cost of a king-size styptic pencil. A styptic pencil is less gimicky, more comfortable, and from what I can tell, more sanitary. I'll stick with that.

Stops bleeding immediately on 90% of my nicks/cuts. The really bad ones, I give it a few seconds and treat it with a second pass from the Nick Stick, and that'll do the trick. No complaints whatsoever with this product.
