Great reference for "Hawiian Fishing Secrets",
By A Customer
This review is from: Pacific Shore Fishing (Kolowalu Books) (Paperback)
A good read for the saltwater shore fisherman no matter where he fishes. However most of the material is specific for the Hawaiian Islands. A lot of detail in rigging for tackle busting fish. Covers tackle, technique, bait, chumming, and construction of homemade gear. A lot of fishing books include fishing from pier, boats etc. This is just from shore.

Good text, bad illustrations,

In the book store, I chose between this and "Fishing Hawaii Style" by Jim Rizzuto, but I think I should have bought the latter.Mr Sakamoto does give you a good introduction on how to bait/tie knots/treat tides. He talkes about how to whip from the shore and patterns to reel. But there are a lot of times you stop asking yourself "how?". He tries not to trample on anyone's feet by not being to specific on where on the Hawaiian Islands things take place.

This book is a very good book to have for any fisherman. Whether you're beginner or a seasoned fisherman you will enjoy this book. Full of useful information, tips & tricks, detailed illustrations and some good fishing stories. I've read it 4 times already! Thanks Mike Sakamoto!
