4.0 out of 5 stars Great value, good bike for the price
I purchased this bike for my son away at college and he was pleasantly surprised. He has been riding it now for a few weeks and said that it handles the bumps and potholes very well. He said that he wanted a bike that he could ride to and from work and class in all types of weather and so far this bike has delivered. He's also had it out on the bike trails in his free...

Yeah,
I purchased this bike for myself, as I don't drive I need a bike for transportation. And this bike looks great, it is a nice looking bike. (after I took off all those ugly decals.) Yeah,
I purchased this bike for myself, as I don't drive I need a bike for transportation. And this bike looks great, it is a nice looking bike. (after I took off all those ugly decals.) But I am some what afraid to ride it, the brake levers are plastic, seems as they would shatter with the first fall I took. The wheel hubs are PC and not alloy tin, as stated, The gear shifters seem like they are ready to snap off when I change gears. The pedals do not rotate freely. Not to mention all the "dings" that were on it, and just about every screw was loose and the brakes had to be reworked. Then as I am taking off the decals I come accross a decal that say's
"Warning! this bicycle is not designed for off road use" Hello... it's a mountain bike!!! now I am affraid to ride the darn thing. I would have paid for a better bike, if the ad said anything about plastic "housing" for the gear shifters. If I had purchased this as a gift, I would definately return it, but since it is just to get me from A to B, I am not going through the trouble. You should state that this bike is a "childs" bike not a "mans" bike and that it is made with lot's of plastic components, that look like they will pop off while you are riding... I'm putting this thing in a yard sale... Don't buy this bike... it is very, very Cheap!!!!

He said that he wanted a bike that he could ride to and from work and class in all types of weather and so far this bike has delivered. He's also had it out on the bike trails in his free time. We've had no complaints thusfar and it was very easy and quick to put together. Good bike for the price!

3.0 out of 5 stars A solid bike with a few shortcomings, November 29, 2005

This review is from: Pacific Singe Men's 26-Inch Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (Sports)
This is a bike that will get you where you want, but not with pizzaz. The Pacific Singe is a bit smallish for larger riders and a major shortcoming is the close location of the front tire to the pedals. When traveling at low speeds (requiring a larger front handlebar movement), the front tire will collide with the rider's feet. This needs to be re-engineered as it could cause a crash.

The suspension is surprisingly effective for such an inexpensive bike. I was also impressed with the handling and brakes at higher speeds.

It's a solid bike for smaller riders.
