This bike was purchased for my son to use at college; getting around an urban campus. The campus has bike lanes, so no real mountain terrain to challenge the bike's workmanship. This bike was purchased for my son to use at college; getting around an urban campus. The campus has bike lanes, so no real mountain terrain to challenge the bike's workmanship. However, unlike the 'easy to assemble' claim, he had to take the bike to a bike shop to have it assembled. After riding the bike for less than a week, the bike pedal broke off. No, my son does not weight 300lbs. After the company sent a replacement pedal, which had to be taken to to the bike shop again for assembly.....He now has no brakes. After riding the bike for a couple of weeks, pressing the brakes to the max level in order to stop, he's decided the bike is not worth any more trips to the bike shop or his safety. Unfortunately we have missed the return date, and it is not easy to box up a bike and return it. So, needless to say - this is a learning experience. Some things just should not be purchased on-line.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of hidden costs!, June 17, 2009
This review is from: Pacific Tuscon Men's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
The bike itself is great. The problem is that Pacific attempts to pre-assemble most of it and in doing so damaged the rear tire and didn't do the installation correctly causing a serious safety hazard. It cost me $85 to have the bike re-assembled properly and to have the tire replaced. I called Pacific and they basically snubbed me saying they weren't going to reimburse for any labor costs, which was most of it. I was furious. If I had known about the added cost up front I never would have mail ordered a bicycle and would have simply gone shopping locally. Buyer beware!

1.0 out of 5 stars Painful and expensive Bike experience (Pacific Tuscon Men's bike), April 28, 2010

As first time bike buyers - we were very excited about buying this bike.
Assembling it was a beast since the instructions provided were for another bike and the fork on the bike was installed backwards on being delivered to us.

After assembling it, we had to pay a bike shop to correct the fork and alignment...only for the chain to come off the grooves while riding it the SAME DAY! Ended up paying another $90 to service the bike and add a seat for $40 which exceeded the cost of the bike.

This experience has left a very sour and expensive taste - would not advise that anyone buy bikes without trying them out.

1.0 out of 5 stars This bike is a hazard, September 14, 2010
This review is from: Pacific Tuscon Men's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
I actually bought this bike at an Academy near where I live. Within the first 48 hours the front inner tube had burst (luckily, Academy replaced this one) and within a couple of weeks the rear inner tube had done the same. The brakes are already gone and I will have to replace them to be able to continue to use this bike. I'm only riding it on the street, no mountainous terrain even in the least. Just not a good buy overall. You should avoid the Pacific Tuscon even if it means paying a little extra up front.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad buy, August 3, 2010

The bike had a lot of problems and I had to spend extra money to fix it. A $150 bike ended up costing me over $200. Both the front and back wheels had problems and the front rim was badly bent. I was thinking to return it but only to ship the bike back would've cost me something like $40. For that price, I could've bought a much better bike and avoided all the headache of fixing it. I guess I'll never buy a bike again via internet.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD REPLACEMENT BIKE IF YOU HAVE SPARE PARTS &/OR EXPERIENCE, December 1, 2010

~ UPDATED ADDENDUM: (1/'11) About 3 days after my last posted review in 12/'10, the rear freewheel gears went out on me, mostly my fault because it had dry lube on it & I sprayed some wd40 on it. I recommend first check to see if dry lubricant (dry hard clear slickness coat) is used on your shipped bike chain & gears, & never use wd40 on it. Use only synthetic teflon lubricant on bike gears, moving parts, & suspension.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"THIRD MONTH REVIEW" DEC/'10

~ FIRST: As soon as I pumped the tires to max pressure, 50 psi, the back tube went out whilst on the road, expected that. I already had a spare, no prob, fixed it. Front tube is still what-iffy, have extra in backpack. Can fix it.
~ NEXT: Cheap brakes went out prematurely within a week, luckily I knew how to replace them with the older thicker more HD type, 4X $1 a piece, no prob. Had to Read booklet instructions for know how on V-type brakes. Definitely recommend replacing them as soon as you get the bike to a more HD type.
~ THIRD: The seat was too narrow, no prob., expected that, had a spare wide gel seat form old bike.
~ FOURTH: The front suspension cover caps kept slipping & staying stuck up & out, no prob, WD40 light oil lubrication like seemed to work for now.
~ FIFTH: Ta'day the right pedal fell off, per as instructions I had to put them on correctly, & -tight-, the right pedal screws in clockwise, whilst the left pedal screws in counterclockwise, AnyWay, today the right one fell off as I began entering an intersection crosswalk, (the first pedal pump is the hardest) but because of expected instinct, luckily I only got a scrape. Preventive maintenance is a must.

~ IN CONCLUSION: Expected it -all- along, & with past experience & spare parts I ended up tricking it up to the sweetest tuned hopping tweak. This bike has a dual suspension consisting of double front inner frame pistons & a unique rear single spring & piston suspension, This bike took a beating from my everytime city bikuur hopping routine, & I had also bought it for the high tensile strength steel frame. To conclude, I got what I paid for, & expected, that is, after some read to know how instructions & some good old greasy elbow fixin'.

1.0 out of 5 stars 2 weeks and its broken., February 19, 2011

Put the bike together in a snap then realized i had a couple things on backwards. Once you get it together its fun to ride. Not that bad to look at either its shiny. Thinking about getting new seat and break pads.
-=Marcus=-

After 1.5 weeks of use the bike is broken :(/ Not worth fixing. just putting the new break pads on it cost me almost half of what the bike cost. Rims on the one I got are extremely easy to bend. And while riding it the pedals fall off.

This bike is awful. Pacific, you should be ashamed of yourself for making and selling such an unsafe product.
The brakes are awful, the rim is bent, and my pedal fell off and is stripped where I can't put it back on. the BBB should investigate this company. I did not have this bike three days. Shame on you Pacific!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, January 11, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pacific Tuscon Men's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
I bought this for my nephew, this is what he had to say:

I can't enjoy the bike anymore, not even 2weeks after i got it:
The pedal started squeaking,
I fixed the crank arm -> Crank Shaft's nut for the 4th time
Replaced half of the rear break
Adjusted the brakes (again)
And now i can't use the bike because the crank arm -> crank shaft's nut won't stay in place. The guys at the bike shop GLUED it in place and the glue didn't hold,,,
So i can't ride the bike without fearing for my safety
