The Pack
I recently saw this film at the Grande in LA and liked it so much that I immediately went to Amazon to buy a copy. The film presents a fair argument on smoking and accurately shows how hard it really is to quit. But most of all it makes you think about social responsibility in a way no other film does. I highly recommend this film.

Moving film with great potential to impact change!,

I recently attended a screening for "The Pack" and was motivated by the thoughtfulness and tact with which this difficult topic was handled. We often hear in the media about the dangers of secondhand smoke, in particular to children, but this film helps people to see, feel and experience just how dangerous it can be and what the consequences are to our actions. I look forward to seeing where this film goes and how organizations use it to change perception and drive change in our communities around tobacco cessation and prevention.

Great film!,

I was very impressed with The Pack. After decades of seeing smoking portrayed as sexy and cool in movies, it was refreshing to see another side of the story. The movie didn't preach, but drove home the risks of smoking (not just to people who smoke, but to their loved ones as well). Aside from the theme of personal and social responsibility, I found The Pack to be an enjoyable courtroom drama. Recommended!

The Pack is an excellent movie that delivers a socially conscious message. It is very rare for a riveting drama to be able to portray pressing social issues so well. I truly enjoyed watching the movie and plan to order it on Amazon immediately.

I had been looking forward to "The Pack" starring Lucie Arnaz for months. I even gave free Amazon.com gift cards over the weekend on my Freedom Village Quit Smoking Forum for members to buy this movie! I have since asked them to cancel the order for the movie and instead buy something from Amazon that they can really use.
When I received my copy of the movie today I found myself unable to concentrate on all the "talk" and to be honest got very bored and nearly feel asleep. The court scene and jury room did nothing to set a true to life setting. As an ex-smoker of almost four years I really didn't hear anything I didn't already know and I can't see how "The Pack" could help bring interest and awareness to anyone regarding the dangers of smoking and second hand smoke. There is a YouTube video by Aaron Shawn Gray called "Thanks Tobacco, You Killed My Mom" which is heart breaking but a true real life video that has help bring awareness to tobacco abuse more than "The Pack" ever could. This is all unfortunate as I know the subject and storyline had much potential in creating a successful movie but this, to my opinion, is horrible. My greatest hope is Alyssa Bennett, the director, will produce a new movie about this subject and be true to herself. She's a caring lady and has great talent but it just hasn't come to surface yet. |
