What a fun way for a child to learn about picnics, rhyme, phonemic awareness and nutrition. The child will learn the text of the book easily with the sing-along on The Sing to Read Adventure music CD, therefore feeling successful with the book. The recipe in the book for the edible Mud Pies was so much fun! It is great pretending that the cocoa is dirt and the oatmeal is grass, just to name a few of the ingredients. She continued her education with Early Childhood Education graduate courses at Tennessee State University. Lorraine has been a kindergarten classroom teacher for 12 years. Lorraine has been an author and songwriter for the past 8 years. Mary Lou Roberts - Mary Lou Roberts received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Northwest Missouri State University. She then attended Tennessee State University where she earned a Masters degree in Elementary Curriculum. Mary Lou has been a classroom teacher for 32 years. Mary Lou has been an author and illustrator of predictable books for the past 8 years.

Love this book! The text is easy and rhythmic and there are 5 pages at the end so the children can choose their own item to take on a picnic! It was wonderful for a picnic unit for preschoolers.
