5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable to travelers
I purchased the travelsafe two years ago before I started backpacking South America. It has been with me ever since and it's one of the best purchases I have ever made. 3.0 out of 5 stars Is it really safe
I read all of the reviews prior to ordering two bags for our European trip. I noticed that the keys were interchangable. What would that mean: buy a bag and now you can open anyone bag. The top could have had interwoven metal mesh in it, but since it doesn't, it can be easily cut open.

I will still use it because it will deter the small time thief. Also...

I purchased the travelsafe two years ago before I started backpacking South America. It has been with me ever since and it's one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's large enough for me to put extra money, passport (I only carry a copy on my body), camera, mp3 player, and important documents. Yet at the same time, it's takes up very little room in my pack and the weight isn't noticeable at all. It came with several keys so I carry two on me at a time in different locations, just in case!

I usually lock it to the bed frame and then tuck it either under the bed, hidden by the sheets hanging down, or under the pillow with the cable hidden by the sheets. While I can't say if anyone has ever tried to get into it, it gives me great peace of mind that i can leave behind valuables in guest rooms without worrying about their security.

I'm heading to Europe this summer and I'm looking into other Pacsafe products that may be useful to bring.

5.0 out of 5 stars great portable security, October 3, 2008
This review is from: Pacsafe Travelsafe 100 Anti-Theft Portable Safe (Kitchen)
This safe is very lightweight, folds flat, and is far more secure than a lock on your suitcase. It anchors to any fixture in your hotel room, and would take some pretty serious tools and time cut free or open. It has enough space for a Kindle, an external hard drive, and your passport and wallet. I travel frequently and often stay in hostels or cheaper hotels, where I'm concerned about people rifling through my things. This safe allows me to always lock away the few things that are hard to replace or are targets for theft (passport, credit cards, expensive electronics) so I have peace of mind when I go out. Great product, well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gave me peace of mind after surgery and stay in rehab, November 6, 2010

I heard about this product only 3 days before my surgery and post-surgical stay in a rehabilitation facility. I ordered it and Amazon got it to me via next day delivery, on the last day I would have been home to accept delivery. They were great.

Before I ordered it, I was sad that I was going to be unable to take my Kindle to rehab with me. After I purchased this product, I was able to take my Kindle and other valuables (such as cash and a credit card) with me. I simply hooked the cable to the bed and was able to sleep and to leave my room without worrying about my valuables being misplaced or stolen. I showed it to a couple of people who are long-term residents of the facility, and they were excited and were planning on ordering one for themselves.

This will also offer peace of mind as I travel in the future.

I highly recommend this product!

A bit confusing at first. It is pretty stiff out of the box, so you really have to tug to get the metal bead through the locking mechanism. It's actually pretty clever the way it locks. A metal bead on the cord goes through the larger side of a peanut shaped hole in a plastic piece. You then move the bead over to the smaller side of the hole, which locks the bead. Then you place your padlock into the larger side of the hole, preventing the bead from going back through that hole. It has enough space for a couple of digital camera, my e-dictionary, with plenty of room to spare for money and whatever else you want to keep safe. I'd say a 2 qt capacity, maybe?

I'm leaving for South America soon, so I haven't had the chance to field test it. But I am confident that it will deter all but the most determined of thiefs, especially if I can hide it.

Edit:

I just returned from 3 months in South America, and couldn't be more pleased with this product. It softened up quite a bit, making it much easier to use. But the most important part is the peace of mind it gave me. I was able to secure all of my money and important documents whenever I left my hotel/hostel/apartment. It is small enough that it is easy to conceal between/behind/under furniture or a heap of my luggage and clothes. On long distance busses, I could use the cable to lock my daypack to the bar on the overhead compartment or below my seat. On day treks when I needed to carry money or important documents, I put them in the travelsafe, and felt secure against bag slashers (there is a metal loop inside my backpack that I could lock the cable to, in case somebody actually did slash my bag and try to take the whole travelsafe out). I saw several travelers with the same travelsafe and other products by pacsafe, and all seemed to love the security it provided.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product that all travelers should own!, April 23, 2011

Not a lot to say here except that this is exceptionally well made and will give you a great feeling of security at, shall we say, budget or really any type of hotel. Yep, even five star hotels across the globe have their in room and even their desk safes robbed of their contents. Just be very sure you can attach it to something that the average, or even above average, bear cannot walk out of the room with like the radiator, bedframe, or even the bathroom plumbing or shower door frame. I would not recommend the closet rod or shower rod. While nothing is fail safe, this will keep you secure in most circumstances. We kept our passports, extra cash, and some travelers checks (low tech, but good in a real pinch), in it while we were out touring. We carry copies of passports on us and still more in luggage, along with credit/debit card backside and frontside copies. You just never know.

You can be sure that it will now go every where in the world we go. No issues at all and very easy to use. Just make sure you split up the keys so one of you has access in case you are mauled and your waist or neck safe is absconded. It comes with three of them.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars very cool!, June 15, 2011

I needed something to carry my firearm in my vehicle without having to worry if someone broke in. My firearms instructor had this bag for the same purpose and he loved his. The bag is great! My .357 Smith fits fine, and there's more than enough room for my .38 so I can swap them out. The bag doesn't take up too much space under my seat so I my husband can adjust the seat to drive my car with no issues. Plus, because the bag is so portable, I can easily take it into a hotel room to lock up my gun when traveling in those "less friendly" states. A little tricky to figure out at first (I referenced the review page here) because mine didn't come with instructions. Once I realized how it worked though, no problem! I would highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars So handy!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Pacsafe Travelsafe 100 Anti-Theft Portable Safe (Kitchen)
This bag is great for keeping on my bicycle - I keep my GPS, hand pump, tools, spare tube in it all the time and still have room for my wallet and keys when I don't to carry them around with me.

Construction is solid, it's light and I am able to keep it out of sight when needed. I highly recommend this product.

For some of you who don't uinderstand how this security bag works, you pull the braided wire making the mouth of the bag smaller. Near the end of the pull a metal bead shows up on the wire. Pull this bead through the big hole and then put your padlock on. Now the bead is locked out and the bag's mouth cannot be opened. Comprendo? The bag itself is reinforced with braided wire netting inside the black tough fabric. I now loop the wire through my luggage handle, around a solid furniture, and lock it. Now I don't have to carry my small bulky and heavy army bullet box on my travels. I converted it into a safe with parts from a hasp lock that you screw onto shed doors. Used to get dirty looks from the TSA whenever they see this big metal box's white shadow in my carry-on. Lotsa fun! This bag is a very smart invention. Thank you Pacsafe. Thank you Amazon for selling this product. It will definitely make a great travel gift for anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Small, October 22, 2011

Bought this to use for a hospital stay thinking I could use my iPad. Much too small for an iPad!!! Will fit inside but will not lock defeating the purpose. Otherwise, very good way to keep valuables safe when away from home.
