I love this thing. The Saco River is about 2500 feet from where I camp so owning a kayak or canoe is a must. My kayak is light enough for me to just carry it to the water...but then I need to make at least one more trip for the rest of my gear. The gear I used the cart to transport consisted of my kayak (48lbs), my cooler (about 40lbs), and other assorted beach gear for my wife and 5 year old son to use on the beach such as chairs, beach toys, sunblock, towels, etc. that I'd estimate weighed about 15lbs all together. The terrain I used this on was approximately 5% pavement, 65% dirt/rocky/rooty trail, and 30% super soft beach sand. The pavement was a breeze. The trail was a little more difficult due to natures obstacles all over, but definitely manageable. The sand however, was a nightmare. Although I knew this was going to happen, I still was unprepared for the difficulty. I know this is not what the cart is meant for, but I'm just throwing it out there in the case that you are looking at this item and plan to use it on sand...at least not super soft sand anyways...the sand that was closer to the water was very easy to pull over because it was wet and packed down.Other reviewers on Amazon and other sites have noted that it did not come with tie down straps and mine did. So they either accidentally tossed them with the packaging, or Paddleboy fixed this problem. Another problem I read on another site was that the tires came deflated and there was "no pump in existence" that could fit onto the valve between the wheel spokes...this is also a farce. Although the tires did come completely deflated, if you just grab the valve with your fingers and spin the wheel a tiny little bit, the valve becomes more than sufficiently exposed to attach a hose of any sort. Lastly, a reviewer on Amazon wrote how if you disassembled the cart (popped the wheels off) it would soon break apart is also mistaken. Over the one weekend I used it, I disassembled/reassembled it 6 times with no problems. All in all, I've used the cart for purposes that it was never built to withstand, and worked fine...as far as the things it IS built for, I give it an A+.

I found this product to be usable, but not very well built or designed. The bend in the cross members are not deep enough to accommodate the keel or either my canoe or my kayak. Therefore they sit crooked on top of the carrier. Also, with just the weight of either the canoe or kayak, the wheels bend inwards and sometimes rub on the framework. One of my wheels was crooked as well, apparently due to the hole being drilled through the frame being crooked. Regardless it is a back saver, very packable, and a great convenience. I would not portage a load over a trail with it however.

This is a perfect cart for getting my canoe and gear from the car to the water, even for long hauls over dirt and bumpy trails--deep, soft sand, not quite so good but it will do. It comes with two straps but I find I need only one correctly placed strap to keep it secure.I would give the cart five stars if I used it just for the canoe, because I don't have to take it apart. When I occasionally use it for my kayak, I do take it apart to stow, and that is not as easy as it could be. It will pinch the heck out of your fingers if you're not careful.

I purchased these wheels for taking my 18 foot Epic 18x Sport on the Washington State ferrys. They work so well, that I cant say enough good things about them. They come completely apart...which can be a bit tricky if you are in hurry, but if you take your time they come apart and go together fairly easely. When they are apart, they fit inside my kayak with no problems. They are also very stable and sturdy, I had them loaded and went over bumps and curbs and of course the ferry with no issues at all. They definetly do the job they are supposed to do!

We're lucky enough to live right on a creek on Long Island, NY which lets out to beautiful, open bays.I didn't buy this to transport our kayaks - they're light enough to carry or drag the 15 feet to the water's edge from our boathouse. I bought it to move our Sunfish sailboat and Dyer Dink dinghy. These are both too heavy and awkward to launch without a dolly. Although both of these are really larger and maybe heavier than this dolly is meant to move, it performs like a champ! Four stars just because the wheels have a lot of trouble in soft sand and the foam rubber protectors aren't large enough. They move around and unless you're careful about how they're placed before you load up, you could damage the bottom of your boat. Also, there's a fair amount of "mild steel" in the unit's construction, so if you have to deal with salt water, it will eventually rust out without careful rinsing after each use.

After years of lugging kayaks I purchased the Nemo kayak cart.I am more than satisfied with this product and would recommend it to other female kayakers whose male counterparts insist they don't need wheels !....

Do not buy this terrible product. It is poorly designed and breaks easily. You will never take it apart to stow in your boat or it will soon break apart (not to mention it is a frustrating task to assemble or disassemble it). The design has no cross bar (axle) between the wheels, instead using two hooped bars that are in several snap together pieces.. so it wobbles around under a load and eventually bends the aluminum bars. Additionally, it is clumsy to attach to a kayak (or canoe) and takes several attempts, then crawling around to attach tie towns to secure it - and even then it slides around.I built my own after trying to use this one repeatedly because my wife and I honestly found it easier to go back to lugging our boats without bothering with it. I'd return it, but honestly it is such an exquisite example of poor engineering that I enjoy showing it to my students each quarter. Happy paddling!

Haven't used it yet--came in great condition, and I can't wait to see how it works. Only complaint so far was that the tires really smelled bad. I left it outside for a few weeks, and the smell has improved, but it was bad.
