5.0 out of 5 stars Reveals the Ancient Welsh uses for Magickal herbs
I wrote this book in 1982. It was a very tough book to write because in order to give the book substance, I had to reveal confidential information. It contains descriptions of collecting and using Welsh Herbs in magickal and practical ways. You will enjoy this book, it is quite special to me. Will be reprinted soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars simply preposterous claims
It is a very interesting piece of research however it bears no resemblance to traditional healing methods in Wales. The names of plants are incorrect - obviously miscopied from a book - not from any oral tradition.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is now the only Herbal I own, October 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
Please buy this book. I first read it back in the early 80s. It references several Welsh and Celtic Herbals from the 1800s and several sources from the Dynion Mwyn tradition of Witchcraft. It is an excellent Herbal and Introduction to ancient Welsh Healing arts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Herbal for your collection., October 26, 2003

This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
A Pagan Herbal is one of those books that make you want to know all about Herbs, and Wales and Magick. I have used it to get rid of the Flu, and given a copy to someone who has aids. It has helped him to tolerate the Aids cocktail he has been taking for several years. Since I am very interested in the Welsh culture, this book has helped me realize my wish. I contacted the Web Page which I found in the book and have begun study with a local YTT group here in Mississippi. This is a wonderful religion and philosophy. 4.0 out of 5 stars Really Liked It!, October 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
There are some books that just smack you in the head as you pick it up. This one did that to me. Herbology is my hobby. Paganism is my religion. Wales is my country of choice. I have an old Welsh Herbal from the 1800s. This book was very similar but went much much further in magick and religion. Just what I was looking for. Very easy to read and understand.

This is one of the better herbals around. Gives you selected herbal remedies and with the Welsh names. This book is great for remedies that are effective and Welsh.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book on Welsh and Celtic Herbal Magick - But It!, October 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
This book is about a system of Herbcraft as taught by the Welsh tradition of Dynion Mwyn. It is a controversial group. The Welsh Nationalist extremists hate them. The Christian Welsh extremists hate them and Pagans who make their money teaching rubbish as knowledge hate them. They don't charge for initiation. They don't require students to do anything they have a problem with.

There is a great deal of Welsh Herb Knowledge in this book as well as information from other traditions and philosophies. One of the authors of this book, Taliesin enion Vawr spent years learning herbology from his aunt and passed this knowledge on to others in the Dynion Mwyn tradition.

If you are looking for a Celtic Herbal written by Welsh Pagans, you have found it. Read this book carefully. It is a winner, and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magickal Herbs and Things, November 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
I live near Aberdovey, Wales on the coast. I love my country, but I am ashamed of these neo-extremist so called Welsh people who
instead of actually reviewing a book, they attack the author. I will be a disappointment to them all. I met Taliesin einion Vawr back in 67.

He was an egotist of the fourth order and treated us all horribly. But he said he and his cousin were responsible for initiating Rhuddlwm Gawr and giving him his name. I never met Rhuddlwm and cannot confirm or deny that he exists.

I dropped out of the Dynion Mwyn Group in late 68. I became and still am a solitare Witch. I read this book when it was first published in the late 70s and confirm the author captured the teaching method perfectly. that is one of the reasons I left. It was too primative.

I do believe that Dynion mwyn was at least 50-60 years old when I became a member. It was at least as old as taliesin's aunt who
paraded around the farm as if she was the queen. I cannot verify any of their claims, but I can verify they existed. So the so called trash Dynion Mwyn group are not only wrong they are bloody wrong. The one person I really liked before I left was a Mr. Martin who was our astrology instructor. I don't remember his first name, i was 19 when I attended their classes.

I heard several years ago that they moved near Cardiff and slid underground as I did.

This book was a wonderful book because it brought back old memories and it was a reminder of what i had experienced when I was young.

Thank you author whoever you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should have been titled Herbs of Wales, November 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
Excellent book on Welsh Herbalism. This book is causing a great hubub in Welsh Pagan circles only because it has been mentioned by pagans who want to be known as the be all of Welsh Paganism. They don't want a yank to be known as a Welsh Witch, so they have inlisted the help of neo-wales extremists who invent e-mail addresses and keep trashing the author. Not the book mind you. The book is great. The book is true. And how would I know? Because until last week I was loosely associated with this bonkers group. They have become nasty and obsessed and totally bonkers. The book is Great. The author is honest. The time is right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magickal Herbalism, November 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
I really loved this book; I am really interested in herbal magickal properties, and it states things plainly and easily. I use it constantly to check on certain herbs, especially when an inexperienced friend calls on me as an expert! The only problems I have are that I'd have liked more specific spells listed, and more pictures for identifying herbs. But all in all, a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book on Welsh Herbalism with a magickal bent., November 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pagan Herbal: Herbs of Welsh Witchcraft (Paperback)
If you look at the previous bad reviews, you will see that the people in this "Trash Welsh Witchcraft club" can't spell, do not know their own history and about all they can do is speak a little Welsh. That's fine because we Welsh have a long history of not doing what some people want us to do.

But I was a little hesitant to write this review. I am afraid these Welsh terroristic reviewers may find out who I am. There have been rumours that other real Witches have been threatened by them. They certainly are uneducated aren't they?

But, I really wish more Welsh non-pagans and Welsh non-witches would read this book. It has a ton of information, yes, it is very advanced. There are few spells, so its not for someone who is looking for Witchcraft or paganism as a way to practice hebalsim and be different from their friends, but a look at true religion. It has history, and ethics and practices and beliefs, something everyone should know. Beginning Welsh Witches should read this book. I have never read a book yet that has absolutly everything - but this is close - and teaches true Herbalism. It is totally obvious the previous reviewers didn't even read the book, much less know what it contains. They are just silly.

One really good book, and the first I ever read, was Herbalism by Paul Huson. It gives a ton of great herbal information, in a little bit easier to understand format. But I think everyone should read this book. I agree that the word "Welsh" threw me off in buying it, only because I didn't want to look like I was trying to be one of the wanna be wiccans who are interested in it because its a book that stands out. But I am extremly glad that I did buy it. My copy will soon be doggeared and stained and dusty and look as well used and read and loved as any ritualistic book should. all I can say is buy it, read it, if you don't understand it the first time, read it again. If that still doesn't work, keep it, and read it after practicing longer, and after reading some of the easier to read books. But keep this book. It is the crown jewel of Welsh herbal Lore:)
