This review is from: Pagan Saints (Audio CD)
"Pagan Saints" is another incredible release from EarthSea Records! Sensual, earthy, passionate, dark, rhythmic, and haunting are all words that immediately come to mind while listening to this CD. A combination of instrumental pieces featuring Peter Kater (piano/keyboards), David Darling (cello), and Paul McCandless (woodwinds) to name a few, and the amazing vocals of Chris White, the music is about "the loss and regaining of faith, offering the reverent and committed relationship between lovers as a path to spiritual understanding." Chris White's lyrics have an honest, mature, and strong feminine point of view of a long-term relationship that has lost its sparkle - poetic and refreshing! The music was composed by Chris White and Peter Kater, separately and in collaboration, and the contrast in styles is seamless, but fascinating. The tone of the CD is no frolic in a meadow of wildflowers. It is somber and searching - the reality of examining a relationship that has become routine and exploring ways of bringing new meaning to it. The music is powerful and emotional with and without lyrics, and deepens with each listening. There isn't a weak track on the CD, but I am repeatedly moved by the opening "Where?", as well as "Come to You", and "Faithful" - all three are poetry set to music, and the emotions are profound. This is an extraordinary CD, and I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD would get my Grahamy Award!, August 6, 1999
This review is from: Pagan Saints (Audio CD)
If I was thinking of starting a Grahamy Award for Most Beautiful Recording by an Ethereal, Hauntingly Beautiful Female artist, which by the way I am not, then the the strongest contender so far this year would be "Flesh and Bone" the new album from Pagan Saints. I have been waiting for an album of such involving beauty for some time and it competes strongly with the finest output of the most established of New Age Divas. Aside from its slightly incongrouos title, Pagan Saint's latest offering offers portraits of the sacred and emotional journey of the loss and regaining of faith within the relationship of lovers so worshipful and idealized that heaven and earth seem interchangeable.

The tranquil radiance of this CD is typified by "Dreamtime Waltz," where Chris White sings sweetly over a backdrop of David Durlings cello in a song that seems to flow like a gentle breeze. "Prayer For Home" is equally tender and will temporarily convince you that the world isn't such a terrible place after all.

I found this cd at the Dollar Shop. It was the best dollar I ever spent. I listen to it all the time (like right now). It is a cd full of nothing but beautifull music and LOVE. That's what it was made for and it has definetly achieved that and more. I love it. I recomend it to everyone and their dog!!

I never dreamed that I could ever be so moved my music as I was by Skeleton Woman, but Flesh and Bone have once again taken me to an unimagined level. Their magical blend of music and vocal harmony pierce the very soul!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Muse Music, May 11, 2000
This review is from: Pagan Saints (Audio CD)
This CD is beautifully arranged and produced, with great instruments and an incredibly talented vocalist, Chris White. Many times, the violins on this CD seem like they are crying, and when double tracked with White's vocals, send chills up my spine. This CD takes me places I've never been. Beautiful images flash through my mind as I listen, and allows me to free my inner muse and unleash the torrent stream of words onto the paper.

Excellent background music while at the keyboard. I listen to it over and over again..never getting tired of it. Relaxing, haunting and etherial. My favorite songs are #5, dirge and #7. Can't wait for their next release!
