About the Author

Gwydion O'Hara is dedicated to the research, study, and practice of ancient folkways that survive today.  For more than twenty years, he has looked for the practices of the people of the land, wherever they could be found and in whatever aspect they would present themselves.  His studies have brought him in contact with others who hold a common respect for the old ways, offering the opportunity to watch and work with different groups in both the United States and Canada.  In his studies, he has pursued the areas of herbology, mythology, folklore, and folk magic.  He gained recognition in New York and Toronto as a competent tarot reader and lectured on the subject for the Toronto Psychic Society.  A love for the lore of the simple folk, however, always has been behind his work.  Moonlore is a product of that devotion.

1.0 out of 5 stars the worst book of the year, February 21, 2004
This review is from: Pagan Ways: Finding Your Spirituality in Nature (Paperback)
Issue #1. This book is improperly labeled as "Pagan", and should instead be called "Wiccan Ways". These two terms do NOT mean the same thing. Things like the Wiccan Rede, the crede of the Goddess, the threefold rule, etc, do not apply to all Pagans. They are part of the Wiccan religion, which is Pagan. But not all Pagans are Wiccan.

Issue #2. Wicca should not be refered to as "The Old Ways" when it was invented (or developed, if you prefer) in the 1940's. Yes, some older principles are present today in Wicca, but this doesn't mean the religion is ancient.

Issue #3. There is no new information in this, and nothing that isn't already said in a thousand other books on Wicca. In fact, I found quite a few positive things about Wicca were omitted from this work, leaving it simplistic and insulting to real Wiccans.

Issue #4. If you pick up one or two books on Wicca and Paganism, this doesn't mean you are ready to initiate yourself as a "High Priest", but the author of this book seems to think it does.

This book is childish, misleading, and infuriating. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, least of all a non-Wiccan Pagan.

This review is from: Pagan Ways: Finding Your Spirituality in Nature (Paperback)
I found this book to be an inspiration as well as an educational resource. PAGAN WAYS touches on many aspects of the pagan religion and offers a non confrontational view into the life and ritual of the pagan. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the pagan religion.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable and educational read!, August 3, 1998
This review is from: Pagan Ways: Finding Your Spirituality in Nature (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. It read very easily, and flowed from topic to topic without confusing the reader or seeming choppy. It's written from a very down-to-earth perspective. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who is just starting out in the Craft, or just wants to know more about Paganism.
