A GREAT RECORDING OF THE CAPRICES, December 4, 2007

Mr. Quarta has produced a remarkable authentic recording with the exact bowing techniques as Paganini required. Mr. Quarta is one of the few people in the world who can play Paganini as Paganini should be played: powerfully sublime yet delicately refined. This recording is a must for any serious classical music collector. My only slight complaint is that "Il Cannone" (Paganini's violin) was not used on this recording since Mr. Quarta has used it on his other marvelous recordings of Paganini Concertos. The violin he does use on this recording is without exception a beautiful Stadivari "Marcechal Bertier-ex Vecsey" from 1716 which has impeccable timbre and is a great contender to the "Il Cannone".
