5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tent, Great Week
Just got back froma week of camping in the UP of Michigan, still a little cold at night, but overall the weather was awesome.

I agree with the previous reviewer, this really is a great tent. You can tell that a lot of quality and detail are built into this tent. We had two nights of pretty steady rain, and not a single drop got inside the tent. This thing is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
Our Paha Que Promontory tent arrived this week and we set it up as recommended. What a disappointment. We found the set up instructions less than helpful. They tell you how to deal with the 2 poles but nothing more. It took us at least a half hour to figure out how it all went together. Needless frustration when a few more instructions would have answered the questions...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tent, Great Week, May 24, 2006
This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)

This thing is huge, and when we put the room divider in place it seemed even larger. Very cool. One thing that we really liked - the stuff bag was huge! and so easy to put the tent back into. Dont know why but thats always been a pet peeve of mine. I am gonna buy the floor saver, I think it will help protect the tent floor a little more.

I dont ordinarily write reviews on the net, but I was moved to write about this. It was a real attention getter in the camp area we were in. I could have sold 5 of them, especially to the people whos tents leaked. Few things I buy nowadays impress me like this tent did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tent for 5 person family, July 20, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)
We purchased the Promontory after quite a bit of research. I look for quality, a good warranty (this tent has a limited lifetime warranty)and if possible, great customer service. Paha Que measures up in all cases. When researching, I checked out several sites, read e-pinions, talked to people (boy scout trainers at a camping training I attended...note: this is definately a family camping tent, not a tent for backpacking with the scouts) and then called manufacturers to ask them to compare their product to this one. When I called Paha Que I was very pleased with their customer service... down-to-earth, completely comfortable with my comparative questions about quality and very helpful with what product would best suit our family. They were able to give me specifics about the qualities and features of their tents so that I could make comparisons with other well-known companies and know that I was purchasing the better quality tent.

My non-camping-oriented sister and I put the tent up together in less than 15 minutes (probably closer to 10 minutes) including the rain fly and staking it out. I suspect it would take even less time now. Paha Que recommends two people to put it up, and I would agree. Everything about the tent is well thought out and makes sense, but the size of the tent, and therefore the poles, is unwieldly with one only person putting it up. I watched the video of putting the tent up on Paha Que's home website. It really is that easy.

As far as the parts to the tent...there are very few. They have kept this very simple! There are two long poles that go across the top and four side poles that hook the top poles into the grommet on the base of the tent. Other than two more poles to hold up the optional rain fly/canopy, that is it! The poles are lightweight aluminum and corded. There is no figuring out what goes where or with what....part of the reason it takes so little time to errect. Bonus, the tent actually fits back into the bag with out folding gymnastics to try to make it fit.

It did rain while we were camping, albeit a gentle rain. No moisture inside.

We liked the HUGE window/doors for ventilation. There are three doors so that if you install the room seperator the occupants have their own doors. We kept it as one room, however, and were able to fit two queen-size air mattresses inside and a dog bed (we thought it would keep her in one spot and her toe nails out of the floor). We could probably fit another single air mattress inside. As far as gear, we travel with one duffel for each of the 5 family members and then a couple of others for extra stuff. I used the back of the mini-van as a "duffle closet" but there is some room for duffles in the tent...I just didn't want the clutter in the tent. Without the air mattresses there is loads of room for gear.

All in all, we are very satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Timer, October 11, 2006
This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)
I purchased the Paha Que Promontory for my first camping trip ever...I know a newbie and to be honest I was not looking forward to the trip. But, I cannot say enough positive things about this tent! Without this tent my trip would have been miserable. The two rooms were large enough for me, my husband, and another couple to share and not step all over eachother. The quality was outstanding, despite the windy weather we endured, the tent held up perfectly! I also was so impressed by how easy it was to set up. I highly recommend this tent for first-timers such as myself...or for anyone for that matter! ENJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all around tent for camping, May 23, 2006

This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)
Glad I decided to go all the way and get a good tent. My dad told me Pahaque has the best quality and that I shouldn't waste money on something from Costco. I got the Promontory model and the extra floor. Three of us were able to use it as our base camp tent for a 6 day camping trip. There's plenty of room for us and our stuff, and I know it will hold up with the weather changes. Great tent!

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality...Great Price, January 17, 2007
This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)
I purchased this tent around Christmas as I could not pass up this high quality tent for the price. I live in Iowa and I am unable to set the tent up this time of year, however, I did take the tent out of the bag and inspect it. I have owned 3 or 4 tents in the past, and all of them have been lower priced tents such as Coleman, and this tent is by far the highest quality in terms of materials and workmanship. The tent arrived in perfect and new condition. I cannot comment on the storm worthiness of this tent yet, but I can see that it is very well designed and constructed. I also called Paha Que to ask about their tents and they are very friendly and helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic company with a great tent, September 8, 2011
This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)
I received this tent from Amazon, when I put it up one of the buckles for the attic was missing, which amazon promptly replaced the tent. After receiving the new tent, we went camping in Western NC it rained harder then I've ever seen in my 30+ years of camping, no problem for this tent.

I also got complements from other campers on this tent (first time ever for a tent, they love the look and where surprised that we didn't need a separate tarp in order to stay dry. During the rainstorm my wife and I sat on our cots and played dominoes and we still had plenty of room for our gear etc. With all the rain flaps closed the tent still felt airy.

When we came home and set the tent up in the backyard to dry out, somehow either from deer or wind (I did not stake it down) one of the poles broke. I called Paha Que to buy another pole and they replaced the tent free of charge! I will never buy any other tent except a Paha Que, I highly recommend their products and above all their service.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, June 11, 2011
This review is from: Paha Que Promontory 12-by 10-Foot 2-Room Eight-Person Tent (Sports)
Our Paha Que Promontory tent arrived this week and we set it up as recommended. What a disappointment. We found the set up instructions less than helpful. They tell you how to deal with the 2 poles but nothing more. It took us at least a half hour to figure out how it all went together. Needless frustration when a few more instructions would have answered the questions. We were 2 stakes short and one of the snaps on the rain fly broke when we were taking it down. The divider fastens in the four corners and the top and is little more than a screen. There is only one small pocket on the tent wall which may hold a pair of glasses and you have to choose whether you use the loft or the room divider as both cannot be up at the same time. The floor looks to be everything they claim but the rest of it doesn't warrant the price. Buy a cheap tent and you at least know what you're getting.

I had a coleman tent for years which out performed this expensive tent. Our arrived with a big hole in the roof so thankfully Amazon accepted the return. I was not impressed with the overall quality. I bought the footprint but can't return it. If anyone wants a footprint email at gngstout@comcast.net
