Like many reviewers said already, the soundtrack is better then the mixtape. All in all you get 26 songs, 16 new ones and 10 older ones. Fot disc 1, the soundtrack, you get some real nice old school hip-hop songs, the only problem is the world's most annoying (not famous) DJ Brucie B yelling over every song. Of these 10 songs, 1 is a classic, 1 I skip, 2 are ok, the rest are good. For the 16 song mixtape, you get 7 good songs, 3 I skip, and the other 6 are ok. Production on here isn't as good as I expected from the line of producers on here. Kanye West, Zukhan, KLC, Megahertz, Shim & E Bass, Liz & PLX, Heatmakerz, Pro & Boggs, Black Key, DJ Kick Ass, MAJ all do 1 song, King James does 2, and Just Blaze does 3.

SOUNDTRACK

#1 - 10 (Classic by Rakim -- great beat)

#2 - 7.5 (Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh)

#3 - 8.5 (Classical 2) -- nice beat)

#5 - 8.5 (KRS-One)

#6 - 9 (Special Ed -- tight beat)

#7 - 3 (Melissa Morgan)

#8 - 8 (Frankie Beverly & Maze)

#9 - 9.5 (Phil Collins -- great song)

#10 - 7 (Guy)

MIXTAPE

#2 - 8.5 (Jay-Z, Cam'ron, freeway, oschino, sparks, peedi crakk, young chris)

#3 - 9 (Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Master P -- great beat to sample from P)

#4 - 9 (Peedi crakk, beanie sigel, freeway, young chris -- nice beat)

#5 - 9 (Memphis Bleek, Lil Ceae, Geda K, Jay-Z - -also on Bleek's "MADE")

#6 - 8.5 (Jay-Z)

I bought this double-disc really for disc 1, because of all the "oldies but goodies" on it, but there are a few gems on disc 2 such as "One for Peedi Crakk," "Bout It, Bout It (Part III), and especially "Alright" that makes the purchase more than worth it.

How can you hate on a soundtrack that boasts tracks from the likes of BDP, Special Ed and Eric B & Rakim. If you like old school classics, then this soundtrack is something you need to add to your collection. However, the accompying mix-tape titled "Dream Team" is less than enticing.
The first track on the mixtape, "Champions," smaples the Queen track "We Are the Champions." This track is very, very good. Dame Dash co-produced this with Kanye West. They use the sample so well and everyone flows perfectly over the beat. Dame also announces the newest member of The Roc, Twista. The Roc is steadily becoming the east-coast version of No Limit Records, circa 1997.
After the first track, things go down hill very, very fast. "Bout It Bout It Part III" is the same beat with Cam'ron rapping. Nothing horrible, but not great either. Down the line we get WEAK tracks from Peedi Crakk, Memphis Bleek and even M.O.P. Really, the lyriscist aren't bad, but the production is. Just Blaze does good on his 3 tracks, but other production is weak.
So, if you buy this, buy it for the soundtrack and not the mixtape.

Dame Dash brings us a two cd soundtrack, the first disc featuring classic songs and the second spotlighting the Roc-a-fella record label.
With such a promising tracklist on the soundtrack side, one would expect to be able to sit back, relax, and absorb a few classic hip-hop joints.
What the heck.
The "world famous" Brucie B talks over the ENTIRE first disc. Ever heard DJ Clue? DJ Envy? All those other annoying DJs who talk over their mix tapes, giving shoutouts and props to the people they know? Brucie B is 10 times worse on this as he basically lists off everyone he has ever met or talked to in his lifetime. He talks before verses. He talks after verses. He talks over hooks. He talks DURING and OVER verses. Take the classic "Paid in Full" by Eric B and Rakim:
Eric B: I used to roll up <BIG SHOUTOUTS TO ALL MY UPTOWN FANS..> this is a hold up...
By doing so, Brucie B absolutely RUINS the ENTIRE first disc. 10 classic songs are made unlistenable because Brucie B refuses to just shut up.
The second disc is a showcase for Roc-a-fella records' up and coming "stars". Peedi Crack? Oschino & Sparks? Jimmy Jones? Never heard of these people? There's a reason why. They are complete devoid of any of the skills needed to become great MCs. Listen to "One For Peedi Crack" and you'll get the idea. Even the recognizable names bring this soundtrack to ruin. Cam'ron, what are you doing remaking Master P's "Bout It, Bout It"? It wasn't exactly a great song to begin with. M.O.P.'s "City" sounds like someone ran it through a muted trumpet. Where's the energy that they always bring to the mic? Jay-z brings a nice track to the table in "Don't You Know", but that's really because Just Blaze's production makes up for Jay-z's average vocal performance on the track.

well before i go on i dont actually own this album BUT ive listened to sampels (courtsy of amazon) and what ive heard sounds quite impressive.

The R.O.C: I am a HUGH fan of the roc kanye west, memphis bleek (even though his album M.A.D.E was a weak attempted ive heard 543 is ment to be a great comeback), beanie sigel, young gunz and of course jay-z. poeple like to critisise the roc but i wouldnt be to sure, the roc is slowly taking over (even though of reports its a "death of a dynasty"). The roc have so much potential with knock out artists that havent relised an album yet! (rell & n.o.r.e-ed). The main reason i think this album is so brilliant is Kanye West. He is slowly takeing over the rap game (G.O.O.D music signing Common is a fantastic idea, i hear BE is a hip/hop classic) and he will continue to shine with his new album "Late Registration". The R.O.C is faultless though with "mistake" artists like: Peddi Peddi A.K.A Peddi Crakk, Foxy Brown (a newlly signed person to the R.O.C), State Propety's awful attempts to be gangstar, Jewelz Santanas and of cource DJ Clue who goes for quantity over quality! Anyway now to the album:

Why not 5 Stars??? because of the following reasons:

1. That alful track with Master P (He uses the term "Master" loosly and who "No Limit" records made Snoop Dogg look desperate for a record deal!)

2. The awful comentry by DJ Clue or whoever it is! Why does he wreck classic Hip/Hop (Paid In Full-Eric.B and Ramkin)!!!!!!

Another reason wrong with the R.O.C (as much as i love them!) is sometimes they try a little to hard even though Hova's at a point were he can do just about anything at the moment. Songs like Champions which is a great song streachs the limits a little bit (BUT GREAT PRODUCTION BY KANYE WEST!).
