5.0 out of 5 stars What the bleft?, November 27, 2001
This review is from: Paige (Audio CD)
Ok, I saw this cd at my local Family Christian store, and being a chick rock fan, bought it. When I listened to it, however, I found it was not chick rock. Thing is, I don't know how to classify it. Paige is definitely a ROCK vocalist, and she wrote all the songs, but the format is like in pop: samples and studio sounds. BUT, the sounds are all alternative rock sounds. There is even one song that I describe as pop-core, because it has strong elements of hardcore. This is an album for the eclectic. Some song s have sound sfrom the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s ALL IN THE SAME SONG!! There are cutting edge ideas, like an almost-no-dynamics song that gives an interesting feel to the album. There's a rythme-and-blues-pop-rock-alternative song, a song that puts ska bands scrambling back to their brass arrangment sheets. There's pop-rock, rock-pop, you name it. And she writes it all, sings it all, plays guitar, was an Olympic hopeful in softball, and leads worship at her church at only 17 years old! Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a really really really good CD., March 2, 2002

I like fun music and I love this CD. Paige is a very gifted singer and song-writer. Her lyrics are really honest/real and her songs are diverse and cool. Even though there are only 10 songs, the CD is still worth it; quality over quantity.

My favorite songs are: 1. Hide Myself In You, 3. Cry Holy, 4. True, 6. So Not About Me, 7. Jonah, and 9. Precious. I'd name every song, but I have to be choosy to write a helpful review.

I think that this CD has a lot of flavor and I'd like to think that Paige has some of the same good qualities of Jennifer Knapp with a hint of the "funness" and reality of Superchick. It's a good CD that I encourage Christians and non-Christians alike to invest in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!, September 16, 2001

Usually, once a year, an artist really just pops out at you. You know who they are, years past saw Mark Schultz, Ginny Owens, Nichole Nordeman, and Jennifer Knapp storm on to the scene and take listeners by surprise with their critical and creative new sounds. We ate up like we had never heard it before. This year's first artist to do that is none other than a 16 year old teenager from Katy, Texas. What makes this artist so unique, is not only her unique sound, which is comparable to another teenager, Katy Hudson, but also the fact that she is a skilled songwriter and guitar player. The album starts off with the incredible rock song "Hide Myself in You" and leads into the current CHR single, "Heart of Hearts". Upon first listen, my initial thought was, she's just 16? She sings these great modern pop/rock songs like some of today's seasoned veterans. "Cry Holy" has to be one of the coolest songs on the album, with it's great modern rock sound and catchy praise filled lyrics. However, my favorite track on the album has to be the SKA-infused sound of "So Not About Me". The lyric is similar in theme to Stacie Orrico's hit song, "Don't Look at Me". This is one of the funnest songs on the CD and would work great as a summer time hit. Overall, this album is the best I've heard from a new artist this year, and hopefully she can gain a strong enough following to pull off a New Artist of the Year nomination next year at the Dove Awards. Paige looks to spark, hopefully, the long and creative career of a promising new artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars powerful and striking, June 23, 2001

The first time I got the cd I was amazed. The simple lyrics are very powerful and can strike directly to the heart. Songs about living the life and "Cry(ing) Holy" and how everything is not about us but about the one True God. Amazing. Track number 6 is a very refreshing song about how it's "So, not about (her)." I think it may be a banner that sometimes gets misplaced in todays Christian music. It is wonderful to hear a singer writing a song to direct all the attention to God Himself. Wonderfull music on all the tracks with great electronic guitar tricks on multiple tracks. Overall, just a wonderful cd to enjoy the music and take the lyrics to heart. Paige is about to knock your socks off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Paige is awesome, but under-promoted!, June 16, 2003

I got to see Paige in concert during Winterjam 2002 (I believe).
It was funny - I enjoyed her music (and that of Brother's Keeper) much more than the Newsboys, who were the big name in the tour.
Anyways, this album is a 'don't miss' if you like folk rock Jennifer Knapp styled music.

This is a really great CD with some fantastic songs. Paige sings with a heartfelt purity that really shines through. The lyrics are powerful - far beyond what you would hear on a mainstream rock or pop record these days. I've been listening to "Power in Your Hand" over and over and it keeps getting better! There's even a video on the CD! I can't wait to hear what's next.

Man, Paige and I were in high school together, and when I first listened to this cd, I was suprised at how much pop influence has gone into it, because she is very acoustic, but this cd rocks! The fact that she does all the vocals and most of the writing is amazing, and she has such a superb talent. Her future is very bright, and I am so excited for ya Pager! This cd is definately a worthy investment. My personal favorite songs are Heart of Hearts, So Not About Me, and True.

Paige's new cd is one of those cd's that comes along very rarely that you can actually listen to it several times in a row...simply put...it rocks!..also, Paige is an awesome girl and it's been cool to see her music "evolve" from the simple lyrics of a 14 year old to her new more in depth lyrics, Buy this cd you have no other choice, no regrets, awesome tunes
