This book has a very wide scope, embracing such techniques as Koryo hand therapy, Tai Chi Chuan, magnetic stimulation and Qigong. The emphasis throughout is on pain management rather than drug treatment, which is laudable. Weiner's text is state-of-the-art on all aspects of pain and its multidisciplinary management. It rises to the fact that pain (especially chronic benign pain) is 'the most common medical complaint of civilised man'. Unusually for a tome this large, it makes for quite a good read. It even tells you how to fix a headache.

This is the first book I have read that tries to collect all data in the subject of pain management, whether medical, natural, or experience related. It represents a nice pain management mini-encyclopedia and it offers a nice reference for clinicians about different, sometimes unknown, practices of pain control. The unique chapters about oriental medicine, legal issues, and special diagnostic testing are appreciated. The author is a credible authority. a wonderful, interesting book which I will refer to whenever I need to discuss pain control. Compared to other books, it definitely covers topics never addressed in internationally recognized resources. 5 stars!
