1.0 out of 5 stars Not good!, November 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: From Pain To Profit: Secrets of the Peak Performance Trader (Paperback)
Appallingly badly written. Another review on Amazon says the book should have been proof-read. It would need a lot more than that.

It is an odd book, and may well have been self-published by the author. There is no information page at either end of the book showing any publishers details, nor copyright information, etc. There is just a small entry at the foot of the very last page of the book saying "Made in the USA. Lexington KY, 06 July 2010". I was quite impressed with this, as it would seem the book was printed just a few weeks before I ordered it.

This book is poorly arranged, badly laid-out, and difficult to follow. The writing is amateurish, and the text is filled with typo's, spelling mistakes and poor grammar. Some of the content is actually very interesting, however the book is so difficult to follow it devalues the content. When writing about the benefits of keeping a journal for recording all trades and the trader's thoughts and feelings about that trade, the author states on p69 that there is in the appendix "an example of a trade journal and what it might look like". There is no such example in the appendix, nor even any reference in the appendix to anything like a trade journal example.

At the start of the book there are marketing-type quotes supporting the book, from various people mostly at Online Trading Academy, including the President of that company who say's "I have read this at least 4 times. Each time I get something else of value out of it". If this gentleman has read the book 4 times and provided a quote, why on earth has he not told the author to correct the hundreds of typos and errors, and put into the book the example trade journal so clearly missing!

I got less than half way through this book and gave up. I also bought The Psychology of Trading: Tools and Techniques for Minding the Markets by Brett N. Steenbarger, and this book makes pretty much the exact same points and gives most of the same advice and information as `From Pain to Profit', but is professionally written, arranged and laid out (though very long!). A far better book for anyone wishing to look into the psychology of trading.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRAVO !!!, March 10, 2011
This review is from: From Pain To Profit: Secrets of the Peak Performance Trader (Paperback)
Having just read From Pain to Profit ... it is clear why perhaps the other review found less to enjoy and profit from and you want to know why? This book is clearly written for professional traders and those who live the battles day in and day out of the online trader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Information, March 2, 2011
This review is from: From Pain To Profit: Secrets of the Peak Performance Trader (Paperback)
I see what the other reviews are saying about it being poorly written.. but when it comes to this kind of information, how can you make it perfectly grammatically correct and easy to follow?

This book is a gold mine of information and has everything you need to know. I actually have read it twice now and each time I have learned something else. I might read it a third time just to see if there is more that I can learn.

To the people who wrote the bad criticism, try writing a book like this. I feel like I learned more because of the structure and "poor" writing. It's written out simply and easy to understand.
