Format:Kindle Edition
A must read for everyone! In sharing honestly about her own journey through pain, Natasha brings encouragement, inspiration and hope in God who sees, knows, and cares. It is not just a story of a woman's journey through infertility, it is a beautiful testimony of what God can do through the refining fires of pain if we let Him. You will be blessed and challenged!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Blessing of A Book February 23, 2013

What I Loved

Okay, first of all, let's cover-gush, shall we? Isn't that the most gorgeous shade of green?! =) When I first saw that cover, I knew I wanted to read this book ~ and not just because it was written by friend and fellow Kindred Grace team member Natasha Metzler. But I held back for a bit, because, well, because I knew God would meet me within those pages, and I wasn't sure I wanted to make my way through a book about pain...

I'm infinitely glad God brought me to this book when He did, though. I was right. He met me within those pages.

She shares poetry, she shares scenes from her life, and she shares kitchen-table talks with God. That's my favorite kind of non-fiction, truly. And her style of writing is so, so lovely.

Natasha isn't afraid to get real, to be honest, to admit, confess, embrace her longing to be a mother and her sorrow over her empty arms. Her story is powerful and profound in that she doesn't just share her story and shut the book. She turns up her hands and invites us along with her, whatever our pain and longings may be.

There is beauty in that kind of wild hope in God.

Why I Recommend This Book

Natasha doesn't preach; she draws pictures with prose and compels you to see the pinpoint light beyond the dark window. Pick up Pain Redeemed? You will be blessed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book! January 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There isn't enough good things I can say about this book! As someone who struggles with infertility myself, I completely identify with this story. The author has written from the depths of her heart, not only her story, but my story as well. Feelings that I couldn't explain, she explains. Sorrows that have been buried deep inside that I hadn't been able to share with anyone because I couldn't find the words, I read about them on the pages of this book. When she tells about her "God experiences," it reminded me of my own. He is there, and He hasn't forgotten about you or me! If you or anyone that you know is bearing this same burden, please read this book. You will not be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book everyone can relate to October 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is about dreams. And how even the most beautiful and "good" dreams must be surrendered to a loving God who knows the whole picture. Even if you have never dealt with the reason the author wrote this book: the pain of infertility or the sorrow of a miscarriage, you will be encouraged, convicted, and blessed by reading it. Because each one of us has a dream of some kind that has not come to fruition yet, and while we may be tempted to blame God because we don't have a ________ (fill in the blank with your most longed-for wish) Natasha Metzler artfully illustrates for us that if we don't give the Lord what we don't have, we will never be satisfied with it when we DO receive it. Excellent book; I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for any kind of heartbreak! October 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Pain Redeemed is Natasha's personal story of heartache and redemption through God. At the age of nineteen Natasha was told by her doctor that there was a strong chance she would never have a child of her own. This is the story of desperation. The story of anger. The story of a breaking heart. This is Natasha's story of the unborn child she lost, and most importantly the story of how God can bring us through anything.

Anyone who has desperately wanted God to fix something in their lives can relate to Natasha's story. It doesn't matter if your need is a child to hold, health for a loved-one, your financial situation, restoration of a marriage - anything that has made you cry out to God to just fix the situation right now, you will see yourself in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem October 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Natasha's book is for anyone who has felt pain. In other words, for everyone.

Pain Redeemed is like a gem (an emerald, to be exact) which, once you've read it, you carry with you everywhere. The understanding and renewed belief that God is even now redeeming your pain adds sparkle to even the darkest days, and beauty in everyday moments.

I grieve with more hope, and live with more joy since reading this book. The format is beautiful, the prose is exquisite, and the message will change you.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is hope and redemption in our pain! October 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you have ever struggled with anything in life, whatever it is that left you on your knees and feeling as though God wasn't there, that there was nothing that He could do to help in anyway, that you were beyond redemption, please read this book. I have not been touched or felt as strongly about any book as much as I do about this one, in a very long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing is Wasted September 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
At first glance, it may seem as though Natasha Metzler has nothing more to offer through the writing of this book than some good, sound encouragement to folks struggling with infertility. Wrong....absolutely wrong.

It's surprising really, how when you take away the specific definitions and the individual circumstances...when you allow yourself to get to the place of "undressing" the issues to get to the core of the struggle of just being human; the pain is really all the same.

Pain Redeemed isn't simply the story of one woman's struggle to overcome infertility; it's simply the story of how she hasn't...at least not in the "happily ever after" sort of way we like to think of when a story like this is told.

It's the story of Redemption which is, in a larger sense, the HAPPIEST ever after any of us can hope for--to know that God is in control and will make LASTING beauty out of the burned-up dream ashes we place in His hand. To know and to trust that there is an even greater exchange ahead for what we believed with all our hearts was good...and then know that God does really and truly have something better....even if it hurts for a time.

This is the place Natasha guides us to through her honest story...the possible place of our "pain redeemed" so that we know, beyond all doubt that even *this* will be worth it in the end--nothing is wasted in the hands of our Redeemer.

I found encouragement for the journey in this book so full of "wisdom pearls" and hard-won courage. I found new strength and I am grateful for a Pain Redeemed.
