5.0 out of 5 stars come and get your mindf**k, July 18, 2009
This review is from: Pain Teens (Audio CD)
This is a cd reissue of material from the first four Pain Teens cassette only releases, they recorded at home on a 4-track and did lots of weird sonic experimentation, backwards, tape loops, delay loops, distorted vocals and sounds, evoking a nightmare world of twisted thoughts and emotional mayhem. Conjuring up images from horror fiction by H.P. Lovecraft ("Brown Jenkin", "Innsmouth", "The Unnameable") and M.R. James ("Count Magnus") in instrumental tracks, they also feature vocalist Bliss Blood's twisted tales of warped sexual desires, "Inside Me", "A Knife", "Where Madness Dwells" & "A World of Destruction", and sick stories of American serial killers, one a cut-up of "The Shoemaker"'s own voice telling of a murder, and one a 20/20 expose "A Continuing Nightmare". The cd contains 4 bonus tracks not on the original LP release, including "The Somnambulist" from their unreleased soundtrack to cult silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari."

the Pain Teeb continue to evoke an image of distraught, devilish depraved delinquent delight morphing found sounds and manipulating the depravity from Houston culture. A solid return to their first LP after three - 4 stars and one 5 - star LP and their two 3 star LP's.
