5.0 out of 5 stars love these for fall and winter
i have been using these for years, i used to order direct from paines or grab them on trips to vermont at little tourist places, they bring me back to when i was growing up and had a little wood stove in my room. if you have a smell you want to get rid of (like cooking smells etc) these work well.
they do need some care when you break them apart as they do crumble...

3.0 out of 5 stars Red Cedar cones.
I purchased these because I love the fireplace smell during the holidays and don't have a fireplace. The scent is very nice but the cones are made of chips and crumble easily. They do not burn for very long so I will use these up and not purchase them again.

they do need some care when you break them apart as they do crumble and i do wish they would burn a bit longer, but for me it is worth it, i order about 6 to 10 boxes a yr. i have tried other products that claim they are the scent of "fireplace" but nothing compares to these.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, December 13, 2011

Paine's Red Cedar Cones are a disappointment. Breaking apart the cones from each other sometimes results in breaking the cones themselves. Also, sometimes they do not continue to smolder as they should, and I have to use a lighter to re-light them. The holder is minimal -- it's a waste of wood. On the positive, the aroma is nice once you get it going. It does not last very long, however.50 Paine's Red Cedar Cones With Holder - "Thrift Box"

I'll try some other products from Paines_they have excellent reviews_but this one was a big disappointment. The cedar cones come joined together. When you try to separate them, they crumble. They're impossible to light, they don't fit in the little wooden holder, and the scent, which is not bad, doesn't carry very far or last very long. Not a happy camper, but I'll be back. _John

5.0 out of 5 stars Best cedar-scented incense I've ever found, August 30, 2011

I love Paine's cedar incense cones very much! I've been buying them for years and just adore them.

Like an earlier reviewer, I used to order them direct from the manufacturer or else would hunt for them religiously at every store I came across that might sell incense. (I wish they had wider distribution - they can be hard to find!) I'm happy to be able to order them through Amazon now, and will likely burn them more often instead of hoarding them and using them mostly just for special occasions.

Over the last 20 years I've tried every brand of cedar-scented incense I can find. Paine's are by far my favorite, with the nicest scent! Since I've tended to use them sparingly to save them for special occasions, my backup has been the Morning Star cedarwood incense sticks, which are very nice but don't quite have the special cedar scent that Paine's does.

Unlike another reviewer, I don't personally feel that the Paine's cones burn significantly quicker than other incense that I buy.

I have been a delighted Paine's customer for at least twenty years now, I think. Their cedar cones always remind me of the wonderful woodsmoke smell of a campfire. I find the scent delightfully relaxing, a wonderful sort of aromatherapy. I've never found any other cedar (or other) incense that I like nearly as well!
