5.0 out of 5 stars A very cool book
I have many books on paint effects and this is one of the best I have seen. The photographs and instructions are very clear and some of the finishes I have never seen before. If you are going to buy one book on faux finishes, this should be it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Information for an Amateur Painter
This book has many finishes and the instructions to complete each. For an experienced painter of faux finishes, this is too simple, but for a person just getting started ion doing this kind of work, this is a good instruction book.

This is the ultimate 'cookbook' for redecorating with paint. Within the guide you'll find 100 paint finish techniques with great illustrations, very EASY to follow, clearly spelled out directions to achieve the effects you want. The necessary supplies are listed to make shopping simple. This book has a flip chart feel to it making it easy to keep your place without the pages flipping while yo are working.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bookcase Item, November 10, 2006
This review is from: The Paint Effects Bible: 100 Recipes for Faux Finishes (Spiral-bound)
This is a good general reference book. I am glad that I purchased it, but it isn't my faux painting Bible. However, if you are looking for many ideas, inspirations and photos, this is a good item for you. I am a seasoned amateur and for me, I need specific product references to really make the recipes work. This is more general. The bottom line; it is a nice book to own.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Paint Effects Bible was a hit with the whole family!, September 12, 2005

I purchased the Paint Effects Bible as a birthday gift for my daughter who is an Interior Design major. Before I could get it wrapped, my husband and I ohh'd and ahh'd over it. After it was opened, the birthday girl had to wrest it away from her uncle! I'm sure more copies of this great reference book will turn up in the family libraries in the near future! This book truly has to be seen to be believed!

2.0 out of 5 stars I wish this book had more practical recipes, December 10, 2005
This review is from: The Paint Effects Bible: 100 Recipes for Faux Finishes (Spiral-bound)
Although I liked the general layout of this book, it fell short in providing actual how-to recipes. I have had this problem with many books on the subject of faux painting. I finally did a little research on the Internet and came across Sandra's Recipe Cards - 20 unique faux finish designs with how-to, step by step instructions on the back. Faux Like a Pro publishes these cards and they can be found online at www.fauxlikeapro.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Paint Effects Bible - Kerry Skinner, February 15, 2009
This review is from: The Paint Effects Bible: 100 Recipes for Faux Finishes (Spiral-bound)
I was wanting to add some extra "jazz" to my dull walls, but was scared to get creative. "The Paint Effects Bible" is very thorough with lots of pictures on how to achieve professional results. Even I (the non-artist) made my living room look like a professional home decorator did the work. I am now planning new ideas for other rooms.

Book should be beginning to learn how to decorate with paint. Very amateur techniques. Being a professional decorative painter I didn't learn anything new. I looked at it once and never had any interest to try anything.

Not that great - only a couple in here that would be deemed difficult enough to actually need a step by step guide. A section on sponge painting? Really? Designers, stay away - this book is purely holly-hobby projects and you won't get much out of it.
