This review is from: Paint (Hardcover)
Good old Jeffery. He's getting old, you know. He inducted me into drawing (my web site is [...])
This book isn't really a manual about painting, but really a manual about life. It follows on from his first book, draw. Basically, Jeffery believes in copying work as a way of learning to draw. Once he says that, he goes around copying peoples things and including the pictures in the book. In paint, he does a little more about mark making, but if you're hoping to find a book on mixing of technique, there's none of that here. I think Jeffery, like a true artist, enjoyed writing this book. He didn't think too much about passing on knowledge, but rather passing on inspiration. And in the end, the book is inspiring. And now that it's like totally out of fashion, you can pick it up for a buck. |
