When my daughters were young, they and their friends played with "Spin Art" (the same toy as this one)--they loved it. Now my 3 1/2 year old grandson plays with "Paint 'n' Swirl and he LOVES it. He asks to play with it every day--he is totally fascinated with "turning on the machine", adding different colors of paint to the cards and watching them spin a design. The only negative side of this toy is you need many, many more cards and bottles of paint than the ones that originally come with it because kids have so much fun with this toy they want to do TONS of "paintings" each time they play with it. You can order more of both at a pretty reasonable price from the manufacturer. Since my grandson is so crazy about this toy (he can manage it all by himself at 3 1/2 even though it's recommended for 5+), I have been refilling the paint bottles with liquid tempera. This way he can use his own color combinations, etc. And, like many years ago, I just purchase 5 x 8 plain file cards from Office Depot/Staples and cut one end off so that the card will fit in the toy. These cards aren't as thick as the manufacturer's, but they work ok. I recently purchased 600 cards for $7. I highly recommend this toy for either boys or girls--and it's true, it's not messy--the paint stays inside it.

The product I received is not what is pictured here. The machine itself is different and the there are only 3 tubes of paint- neon colors that don't show up very well on the finished work. But it is still a great activity for our neighborhood halloween party

My kids (ages 6,4,2) don't sit long for ANY activity. So, this toy is no different. I like it because it's not messy. Easy to clean. The kids like to squeeze their own paint and with this toy, it doesn't matter if they squeeze a littl too much. They can ALL do this activity.

We ran out of paper quickly. I have a roller paper cutter and I just took some bulk fingerpaint paper and cut it to size. Even though the painting paper is very thin, it held itself in the spinner just fine. I prefer the glossy texture of the FP paper...

When the kids are bugging me to do a craft "project" this is perfect. Minimal set up time, minimal mess, minimal supervision, easy clean up. NO MIGRAIN

I used this toy for my 2 year old's birthday celebration at her daycare. Approx 16 kids did a picture and my daughter did one for 4 different teachers. The kids were all very patient in waiting there turn. I thought it held up good and the kids loved it. I cut extra papers and used construction paper to make cards. I think cardstock paper would also work. It's a pretty mess free machine and I also used other paints as well. I think its great for the price. It only cost me 9.99 when I bought it from toys r us.

I bought this toy for a craft activity at my son's party when he turned 3 years old. I was able to supply lots of paper by using unlined 4" x 6" index cards and I was able to make lots of extra paint by thinning tempra paint a little. The craft was a hit with the kids, but even more so with the adults! It was easy to clean up. Afterwards my son got to keep it as an extra birthday gift from us. Unfortunately, about 6 months later the motor died. :-(

My grandchildren loved this. They got to create, share, laugh
and just have a good old time. Not messy, entertaining and
very creative for them. A good gift! A good buy! Recommended!

My kids in my art class liked this toy until they all got to make more than one swirl art picture and then most of them said that they were getting too bord with this toy. The great thing aabout this toy is that it creates virtually no mess and this toy is very easy to clean up with soap and water. The bad thing about this toy is that it uses up the paint and paper very quickly making it expensive in the long run when you have to purchase paint and paper every 7-16 days. This toy was also not very challenging to the kids and I guess that is why they lost interest very quickly. This toy is great though to use at events such as the Spring carnival we held at my school/work. The kids didn't mind paying $.50 to make a swirl art picture and some kids even came back 2 or 3 times to make another print.

OK it's definitely a fun toy, and it's not messy but you just plough through the supplies in no time especially the paper. Usually along with the toy you can order a refill at the same time. A little disappointing.

I remember playing with this or something like this as a kid and I LOVED it. Heck, I'm 25 now and thinking I should have one again. :-) No, I don't have kids, it's for me.

And I have no clue how durable this version is, I just guessed cuz its required for the review.
