I absolutely love this paint by number calendar. My sister got it for me for Christmas and I am crazy about it. It's so much fun to start out with a white picture and then watch it come to life as you color it in. It's the closest thing to being a real artist. Of course, I wish that I had a painters ability to paint my very own sunflowers but we all can't be Vangogh's or Da Vinci's. This has inspired me to go take an art class and who know's maybe I will paint something of my very own. Here's a tip - The reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is that I have only finished 1 and 1/2 of my paintings and I already ran out of blue #3 paint b/c of the lighthouse painting, running low on a few others and the brush isn't the greatest. So, I suggest you keep a small cup of water next to you while you paint. Dip your brush lightly in the water (not dripping) just enough to keep it wet then lightly dip in in your paint before applying to the canvas. This will stretch your paint to last longer and make it look smoother especially on the backgrounds. In other words, try not to cake it on but lightly paint by combining the water and paint then watch it go on smoothly. Also use a little water when mixing colors for the same reasons I mentioned above. I'm going to go to the arts and crafts store to buy more brushes and paints so that I can finish the other 2 paintings. I suggest getting this gift for anyone who has some time on their hands and loves to pay attention to detail. It's a cool hobby better than watching tv. Thanks Sis!!

This is the second PBN calendar that I purchased from this company. The first was un-paintable because of the slippery paper. This one has better paper, but the amount of paint provided is barely sufficient for one picture, let alone 4. The brush is also way too big for the tiny lines. I'm an experienced PBN painter so I have my own supply of paint and small brushes. I used 23 additional paint containers to mix the colors needed. The pictures are good, but the print is tiny for some of the sections. I would definitely not recommend this for kids or inexperienced painters.

I purchased this for my 9-year-old daughter, who loves to paint by number. She has now spent many satisfying hours with it. The kit comes with all the paint one needs. The instructions are clear and contain appropriate detail.
