Wow,

Putting Perez Hilton aside... and knowing that fact that where this kid is from has nothing to do with anything... this is different and refreshing. I'm very critical of a lot of the new mainstream "music" these days but this I LOVE. It'd be great to see this blow up here in the States. He has his own groove, style and even personality. He reminds me of an 80s Prince meets maybe Lady Gaga kinda sorta...a unique 80s sound with a current makeover maybe? Def. listen to the music before writing it off for an not-music-related reason! Start with 'Wake Up' on youtube until samples are available on Amazon. :)

I've read a lot of internet buzz about Sliimy, and most of the good stuff comes from his promoter, Perez Hilton. The negativity surrounding Sliimy and his debut album, Paint Your Face, comes from people internet world. However, most of the hate comes not from Sliimy's music...in fact most people commenting have never heard it...it's all about Perez. So I'm here to say, take Perez Hilton out of the picture and listen to Sliimy for yourself! To not give him a chance is doing yourself a huge disservice!
Yes, Paint Your Face is not for everyone. But the open-minded will find a fun, breezy, feel-good pop record that's as infectious as can be! Sliimy's high-pitched, effeminate voice is a perfect fit for this music, and the instrumentation and production is well-done. Think of his music as a little bit of Mika and a little bit of Jason Mraz. While I honestly can't say there is a bad song on this record, my favorite tracks and "Paint Your Face" and "Mum". This album is well worth your time. I truly hope that Sliimy finds success here in America. We need more music like his. I urge you to listen and give this album a chance. It may just be that one gem of an album that you didn't know existed!

Quite possible the worst album of 2009. I listened to the album a few times to see if it was a grower and it never did. Perez describes the music as "good, adult, quirky pop," but the only thing I hear is music for a Saturday morning kids show.
