We recently did this paint your butterflies kit on a gloomy day. When we opened the box, I really did not expect to spend too much time to finish it but it was one of those projects that you can finish quickly or be really creative and have hours of fun. Everything you need is in the box, the main objects are 3 life-sized wood butterflies that look real, I was expecting those flat ones that you see in some craft stores but these are so nicely done that my 9 year old said she will keep forever. She was very proud of her creations, my husband and I each got the ornaments with gift cards and she kept one as a magnet for herself. She also learned about butterflies from the information included and the incredibly detailed identified box. We got 6 more kits for her cousins and they all loved it.

This kit is both educational and fun, and while it only comes with three wooden butterflys, they are of very good quality. The kit also includes all the supplies you need for completing the project (unusual for most kits). The box comes with lots of information about butterflys which is wonderfully detailed and interesting. The butterflys are painted by your children so you do need to understand that they will turn out how your child plans and paints them - not like the pictures on the box. I loved the results and they are definately something for the long-term memento collection.

My 8-year old daughter received this Paint the Wild Butterflies as a birthday gift, when we started the project together, I was surprised that my 5-year son got really into it too. We had a really wonderful time painting, imagining and laughing at the table while doing this project. I have never seen activity kits with actual handcrafted wood and the butterflies actually look life-like as opposed to be machined made. The paints are suprisingly good quality, it dried quickly and we were able to change colors and added stripes and spots. I did wish there was more than 1 paintbrush to do all 3 at the same time. My daughter made it into a eye-catching ornament with gift card for her dad and my son and I each made a magnet. It is most definitely a memorable project and it captured my kids' artistic expressions which I am sure will bring smiles years from now.

I really enjoyed this Kit. My daughter received it as a gift. It kept her engrossed and involved for hours. She is very proud of the job she did. The kit and the paints are of very good quality. I would highly recommend this.

I bought 3 sets (9 butterflies) as a project for my kids' group. Maybe the kids were too hyper that day, but they tore through the butterflies ($50 worth) in about 5 minutes, and the results of this frenzy were not particularly pretty. The results were much better when the kids painted "stained glass" butterflies that I got at Walmart for less than a dollar per butterfly. The wooden butterflies have great potential, but I would recommend them only for an older artistic child who is willing to spend the time to do a good job. On the other hand, the 5-7 year old kids wanted to take their sloppy wooden butterfly magnets home to Mom; the older kids abandoned theirs (knowing they hadn't done a good job).

I bought this kit for my kids to do and they had so much fun painting it that I bought several more to give as gifts. Can be done in one sitting or saved to do over time. Easy clean up and so much extra paints included the kids did other projects too. I highly reccommend for both girls and boys

Thought this kit was great. Full of creativity and it was fun for both my daughter and son. They could paint whatever they wanted or copy the ideas from the box. The butterfly ornaments make great gifts too. Would definately buy another kit.

This kit is a great idea, but the butterflies break apart pretty easily. Need to make them of more durable wood.

My girls have received other Balitono kits before and they love them, so I am always on the lookout for more styles. The best ones we had were the horses kit and some other jewelry box kits (not sure the exact names) but the painted things are on our girls' tables.

The butterflies kit is not as elaborate as the others we had but we had as much fun creating them. My 9 year old and 7 year old shared the kit and took the time painting them and making into magnets and ornaments. The butterflies are about 4 inches each, not large but there are 3 of them and i am impressed with the quality of the paints and paintbrush since i used to paint on canvas. on the pamphlet, it said the wooden butterflies are hand-carved and they have the details that are life-like. One improvement i would like to have is to have a glow-in-the-dark paint included.

I was surprised when I opened this product - a little disappointed. I thought the butterflies would be larger and sturdier. They're not as big as I anticipated and seem like they would break apart pretty easily if they fall from display or accidentally get some pressure applied. My child picked this out and really liked the idea of being able to paint butterflies with your own design. I think it will be really enjoyed for a little while - maybe entertainment for an hour or so. Had I been able to handle the product and compare it with other art project options, I would have passed it by. I believe it is the price that bothers me - a lower price would have made me happier with it.
