Sizzling,
By AvidReader "AvidReader" (Columbus, Ohio) - See all my reviews

I just finished this book and it nearly melted my brain! Sizzling action and the characters were vividly drawn. I felt like I knew the characters and was sad when the story came to an end. The changes in time and venue were exquisite and left me wanting more. They really added to the excitement and helped to build the suspense. I loved it, and I hope to read more of the same from Craig Smith. I'm about to order a few copies for birthday gifts.

Smith writes with intelligence, breathless intrigue and action. The Painted Messiah is an amazing read that has caused me to put everything else on my plate to one side until I "rode this pony" to the finish line. The character development is crystal and I found myself caring deeply for the protagonists. The research Smith has done is historically fascinating and the book was deeply satisfying. Thank goodness that Craig Smith is now in the American market !! Move over Morell, Ludlum, Cornwall and Diehl, Smith is coming to town !!

Captivating,
This review is from: The Painted Messiah (Paperback)
This is not a typical novel I would read, but my sister wanted me to read it since the author is one of her best-friend's cousins. From the moment I picked it up the action immediately began. The story is interesting in the sense that the time frame travels between present day and A.D.
After Kate Kenyon's husband died in a climbing accident she begins a life seeking dangerous excursions. Along the way she meets college student Ethan Brand and he is attracted to both Kate and her thrill-seeking life style. They fall in love and their life consists of the latest adventure involving stealing from others. Up until their stealing of the ancient portrait of Christ, their crimes have been free from hurting others. However, they stole the portrait from an international crimimal hiding from the U.S. in Switzerland. He wants revenge on the criminals that broke into his estate and stole his most valued possession. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I haven't finished a book this quickly in awhile! A definite must read! Excellent book about a painting stolen, for sale and murdered for.two story lines from AD 26 to present day. spies, governments and a variety of others too.The Knights Templer are even in this book WOW .I am a reader not a writer, and I read for enjoyment nothing more,if you overthink what your reading sometimes it becomes something other then the story, and THE STORY is always the Star in a novel.Great job Craig what a wonderful story. Slow start mystery, but it finally caught my attention. I did not find this book as interesting as the other reviewers. The nice cover is what caught my attention.

The Painted Messiah
The Painted Messiah held my attention completely. This book is spellbinding and will surely lead to another in a series. The characters are fascinating and we can't wait to see what happens next.
