About the Author

Jens Hoffmann is Director of the CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco, and Curator of the 12th Istanbul Biennial. His books include "The Next Documenta Should Be Curated by an Artist", "Perform (with Joan Jonas)", and "Show Time". He is founding editor of "The Exhibitionist: Journal on Exhibition Making".

Marcel Dzama was born in Winnipeg, Canada in 1974, where he later founded the Royal Art Lodge, and where he still lives and works. Last year his work appeared in Paris, Stockholm, London, Dusseldorf, Toronto and New York. It has also been published by Simon & Schuster, Penguin Books, Soft Skull Press and McSweeneyis Books.

Fred Tomaselli was born and raised in suburban southern California and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Among the public institutions where he has had solo exhibitions are P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in New York; The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; Huntington Beach Art Center, California; and Center for the Arts, Yerba Buena, California. He is represented by the James Cohan Gallery in New York.
