"Painting Indiana" represents the best work of a new group of Hoosier artists, commissioned by the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, to document the beauty of the State of Indiana at the threshold of the new millennium. Each artist has been assigned a group of counties, and all 92 counties are included in the book. These contemporary painters are moved by the same spirit as the renowned Hoosier Group, people like T.C. Steele and J. Ottis Adams, who painted Indiana at the close of the 19th and early part of the 20th centuries. Each artist has provided a brief comment on his painting, and Dr. Earl L. Conn, of Muncie, has added brief histories of each of the counties. Here then is a work of great beauty and historical significance, commemorating the talents and beauty of Indiana at the beginning of a new century.
