From basic supplies to color theory and painting techniques this book has it all in an easy-to-understand narrative and demonstrates every step in wonderful full-color photographs. I borrowed this book and loved it so much I had to order a copy for my own.

If you are wanting to jump right in and paint a flower this isn't the book for you. It is very thorough, very well written and very detailed. However as a beginner I think it sort of overwhelmed me. I am just wanting to learn painting and have ordered several books on painting flowers. This one arrived first. I am sure that it will be a book I consult frequently in the future if I decide that I really do like painting as a hobby. If you already know basic decorative painting I believe this book would be a fantastic addition to your library, as the author covers values, shadows, shapes, and other topics that will make your floral paintings really come to life.
For the beginner, she does cover exactly which brushes and supplies she uses, which I am hoping will be helpful soon. If you are like me, and are a more "visual" learner, and want things broken down into simple steps and precise directions you might want to look elsewhere for an instructional guide.
This review doesn't intend to take anything away from the author though, she is an excellent writer and an incredible artist. Hopefully one day in the not too distant future I will read this book again to improve my painting technique.

This book is very informative for those interested in painting flowers. It gives the basics and the painting steps in easy to understand format.
