Having just recently emigrated from South Africa to New Zealand I have found this book extremely useful in that here I have a very good reference of the building style in NZ that is not found in South Africa. I originally found this book in the Library here in NZ. My first reaction was that I simply had to have a copy of this book and immediately ordered one from Amazon. The techniques in this book are very well explained and set out and the illustrations are professional,very crisp and very lively in colour. Anyone painting in watercolours should have one of these in his/her library for reference purposes. This book contains more than just being able to paint in rustic colours. It is a good all round reference for general painting techniques as well. I particularly like the demonstrations and the many close-ups of details that will certainly be of great help to beginners. Terry is a highly accomplished artist.

I highly recommend this book for beginners as well as those of us who have been years in the business. I am a professional art teacher and have been drawing since 1944 and painting since 1946.

I stumbled upon Terry Harrison's instruction books several years ago. I soon decided that his clarity of instruction and his wonderful landscapes were something I wanted to emulate. I've collected all his books and I've never been disappointed. This one is no exception....it's excellent!

I really enjoy and use this book quite a bit. The information is simple and easy to understand. The techniques are very useful. It is a valuable purchase.

This book by Terry Harrison is an excellent source of reference and a pleasure to have in my collection, although it mainly deals with Water Colour, it covers a whole multitude of applications, from just drawing with a selection of pencils right through to the use of other mediums. I can visualise studies not only in Water Colour but Pastel and Oils as well. As far as I'm concerned this book is an excellent addition to a collection and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their knowledge and ability in the art form.

I have painted with acrylics for years and now want to try water colors. This book has
great examples and instructions and will be of great benefit.

This was an inspiring book! It gave very helpful techniques and clear instruction on how to get specific effects with watercolor. I just purchased another by this author/painter. I wish more artistic instruction was this detailed and step-by-step. Wonderful book :)
