As an artist who paints buildings and landmarks, this book has been the answer to my prayers. In the past, it has been a trial and error effort to create realistic looking bricks, stones and other building parts without any real quide to teach me. This book included solutions for every texture I've tried to create and saved me valuble time with step by step instructions and examples. I recommend this as a guide for every artist whether beginning or advanced that wants to paint buildings.

I'm always impressed by Claudia Nice's books and this one it is a confirm that she an absolutely brilliant artist and moreover a great writer. Suggestions and tips are rich and clear. Pictures are very nice. A great book to buy.

This is an outstanding book. The author goes into detail on how she creates the effects in her illustrations. Many of her ideas and techniques can be carried over into other subject material. This was one of the best art instruction books I have purchased in regards to watercolor and ink. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for insight on creating wonderful textures with this media. However, I would suggest reading reviews of the author's other books to select the subject matter you like best before deciding which one to get because there is apparently some overlap.

If you are an artist or a person who likes old buildings and barns and wants to try something new this book is a wonderful book to purchase. Claudia Nice techniques and directions used in this book and her other books are easy to follow. In this book Claudia's explanation of perspective and working with perspective along with her diagrams is easy to follow. I especially like how Claudia used photographs of buildings and perspective lines drawn from the photos to the horizon/vanishing point line. This helps me when I am looking at a building that I am going to sketch for a painting. Following Claudia's instructions and lots of practice can help anyone accomplish the goals one sets for oneself. The way Claudia sets up her books makes her a wonderful instructor for any level art student or a person who just wants to try something new. Claudia's way of explaining, drawings and examples make learning fun.

Claudia Nice certainly knows how to illustrate her ideas very well and easy to followw,great stuff.

WOW This is a great book. Claudia has outdone herself. We have lots of her books and this one is better than the last. (If possible) It has great information to help the person that wants to do this kind of work with a pen. The book was in new condition and arrived here very quickly. We are so pleased. Thanks

More than any other book I have read by Claudia Nice, this book has so many useful techniques that should make it useful for artists on just about any level! The book is specifically about drawing weather buildings and you will find that most of the illustrations deals with old wood, metal and brick, but the techniques introduced are incredibly useful for a lot of other subjects where you want a rough "organic" texture.

Even if you don't like the traditional very contrasty look of pen and ink with watercolor, I would recommend reading this book for it's general discussions of texture and it's samples of ink work using grey and sepia inks.

Even though I use oil and acrylics I can use a lot of the techniques in this book. A awesome reading.

I am a budding watercolorist and this is a great reference book on technique and application. I find inspiration in the illustrations and cannot wait to apply them to my next drawing/painting.
Full of step-by-step illustrations and explanations. Love it.

Excellent book with clear instructions,many illustrations to follow and am looking forward to a trip to the countryside to draw some old buildings.I am sure all art studentts will find this book extremely helpful.
